Hi everyone,
Hoping someone here can help or share similar experiences.
I’ve run into a frustrating situation with one of my new FBA products — it’s a baby changing mat that doubles as a faux leather bag, complete with a carry handle and built-in storage compartments. It’s designed to function and look like a stylish diaper bag, and in my view, clearly fits Amazon’s definition of a bag.
Despite this, I’ve just been hit with £300 in long-term storage utilisation fees, which I believe were incorrectly applied. From what I understand, items classified as bags are supposed to be exempt from these fees under Amazon’s FBA storage policies.
Here’s a quick rundown of the situation:
I sent in 1,100 units as part of a launch strategy.
It's a new listing with early but growing sales.
Amazon’s system flagged it as having over 365 days of supply, triggering the fees.
I opened a case over a week ago requesting a reclassification and refund.
So far, only a generic response — no action taken, and the charge has already gone through.
I’m concerned this will continue each month unless the product is properly reclassified.
Has anyone dealt with something like this before?
How did you resolve it?
Did you have to submit product images, a flat file update, or escalate to catalog support?
Any advice would be really appreciated. As a small business, unexpected charges like this hit hard — especially when they seem to stem from a system error.
Thanks in advance!
