So, we now have over 200 items that will be removed from the inventory in the next 4 weeks, Amazon is asking for compliance documents, however the official documents produced by the manufacturer to prove that their product complies with all safety requirements are not acceptable.
The only way to get a product approved is to send it to one of Amazon's newly appointed third party compliance testing companies who will charge up to £1500 to do a test and supply a report on the product.
I want to know WHY Amazon is not accepting the Globally accepted compliance documents supplied by the manufacturer of the product?
Here is an example of a make-up set, the manufacturer has an 10 page compliance document (I have just shown the first page) but this item will be removed unless it is sent to Amazon's third party testers to produce a report, I am not paying for something that I already have, it is unbelievable that they are doing this and I can only assume that it is a money spinner or another way to whittle down third party sellers.
As sellers we have to make sure that everything is in place before listing items, intellectual property checks, compliance documents, provenance of products and reliance of suppliers, so we order the products knowing they are compliant and can prove it, we list them and low and behold Amazon is asking for proof of compliance, no problem, I have the 10 page document that I sought before listing the product, no sorry, you have to use one of our testing houses and pay for a compliance document costing up to £1500 or your product will be removed and you will receive a policy violation into the bargain.
It is frankly unbelievable and whoever approved this policy needs to answer for it. I suspect that it is to do with redundancies in the Amazon compliance department and there are now insufficient people to check documents in house, I don't know only my opinion, I believe however that the policy legally is dubious, but what can anyone do?
