I’m having a very similar experience with Amazon DV.

I sell latex balloons on Amazon UK and have around 144 affected ASINs.

I contacted SGS, an Amazon-approved TIC provider, specifically asking what testing was required for Amazon UK/Europe and Amazon DV. I even specifically asked about EN 71-12 from the beginning.

After reviewing my products, SGS proposed testing for around USD 800 and described it as the recommended testing to “meet Amazon platform requirements.”

I proceeded on that basis. Now, after the testing and DV submission, I’ve been told that Amazon requires another USD 2,850 for EN 71-12 testing.

Then there are the DV review fees: USD 50 per ASIN if the report is from SGS, so with 144 ASINs that is another USD 7,200. If the testing report comes from another laboratory, SGS quoted USD 100 per ASIN, which would be USD 14,400 just for document review.

SGS also stated that existing test reports need to have been issued within the previous 1 year, which raises the concern that significant compliance costs could become recurring.

For a small seller, this is simply not commercially viable. I’ve now stopped selling these products on Amazon rather than continue pouring thousands into the DV process.

Reading other sellers’ experiences, it seems I’m far from the only one.

Also WE SUBMITTED BELOW REQUESTED INFORMATION

Explain your process for ensuring that products sent to customers exactly match the listings on Amazon – including how you source inventory and how you fulfil orders.

We have established a comprehensive inventory management and order fulfilment process to ensure that every product shipped to customers exactly matches the corresponding Amazon listing.

1. Inventory Sourcing

We source our inventory exclusively from legitimate manufacturers, authorized distributors, or reputable wholesale suppliers. Before purchasing products, we verify the supplier's authenticity and ensure that all products are genuine and suitable for sale on Amazon. We retain invoices and purchase records for all inventory as proof of authenticity and traceability. We also check business information of suppliers, we cross verify their VAT registration and we also cross verify their company. We also check business reviews on trust pilot and also on google to make sure supplier is genuine.

2. Product Verification Before Listing

Before creating or matching a product listing, we carefully verify every product against the Amazon detail page. We confirm the brand, manufacturer, model number, UPC/EAN ﹙where applicable﹚, size, colour, quantity, material, specifications, packaging, and any other identifying attributes. Products are listed only when they are an exact match to the Amazon ASIN. If a product does not precisely match an existing listing, we do not list it under that ASIN.

3. Inventory Receiving and Quality Inspection

When inventory arrives at our facility, every shipment is inspected before being accepted into stock. We verify that the products received match the supplier's invoice and purchase order. Products are inspected for authenticity, correct packaging, physical condition, expiration dates ﹙where applicable﹚, and any signs of damage or defects. Any products that do not meet our quality standards are segregated and are not offered for sale.

4. Inventory Storage and Management

Approved inventory is stored in an organized manner using clearly identified storage locations. Each product is labelled and tracked by SKU and mapped to the correct Amazon ASIN. Similar products or product variations are stored separately to prevent picking errors. We conduct routine inventory audits and stock reconciliations to maintain inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies promptly.

5. Order Fulfilment Process

When an order is received, the order details are reviewed to confirm the correct ASIN, SKU, quantity, and customer requirements. The assigned item is picked from inventory using the SKU and storage location.

Before packing, the product undergoes a second verification to confirm:

• The correct product has been selected.

• The brand, model, size, colour, and quantity exactly match the Amazon listing.

• The product is new, unused, and in saleable condition.

• The packaging is intact and suitable for shipment.

After verification, the product is securely packaged using appropriate packing materials to protect it during transit. Shipping labels are reviewed to ensure they correspond to the correct customer order before dispatch.

6. Final Quality Control

A final inspection is completed before shipment to verify that the correct product is being sent to the correct customer. This includes confirming the order information, product details, packaging condition, and shipping documentation.

7. Continuous Monitoring and Improvement

We continuously monitor customer feedback, return reasons, order defect metrics, and any listing-related issues. If any discrepancy is identified, we investigate the root cause immediately, correct the issue, and implement preventive measures such as updating inventory records, improving staff procedures, or revising listing information to prevent recurrence.

Through these controls, we ensure that customers consistently receive products that exactly match the Amazon listing, maintain high order accuracy, and comply with Amazon's policies for product authenticity, listing accuracy, and customer satisfaction.

Provide an explanation for why customers are complaining about receiving incorrect items.

We take full responsibility for the customer experience issues that resulted in product condition and wrong item complaints. After conducting a detailed investigation into our Voice of the Customer reports, return reasons, and internal fulfillment processes, we identified the root causes and have implemented comprehensive corrective and preventive measures.

1. Root Cause Analysis

Our investigation identified the following root causes:

Product listings did not accurately match the physical inventory, including product descriptions, images, size, colour, quantity, and packaging.

Certain products were listed under incorrect ASINs, resulting in customers receiving items that differed from the listing.

Inventory fulfillment errors led to incorrect products being shipped.

Similar-looking products and packaging caused picking errors during order fulfillment.

Incorrect SKU and barcode labels resulted in inventory identification errors.

Some inventory was stored in incorrect bin locations, increasing the risk of picking mistakes.

Multiple product variants ﹙different sizes, colours, and models﹚ were stored too closely together, leading to confusion.

Manual order processing increased the likelihood of human error.

Quality control procedures before dispatch were insufficient to detect fulfillment mistakes.

Packaging procedures were not consistently followed, resulting in damaged products during transit.

Temporary and newly trained staff were not sufficiently familiar with our fulfillment procedures.

Additionally, several ASINs were enrolled in Amazon's Easy Ship pilot programme. At that time, our staff were only printing shipping labels and were unaware that Easy Ship packing slips also needed to be printed. As a result, packers could not verify the product description before dispatch, increasing the likelihood of shipping incorrect products.

Following discussions with our Amazon Easy Ship Account Manager, Hans Malhotra ﹙hansmal@amazon.co.uk﹚, all fulfillment staff have been retrained on the correct Easy Ship packing process, including printing and verifying packing slips before every shipment.

2. Corrective Actions Taken

We immediately implemented the following corrective actions:

Conducted a complete audit of all affected ASINs to verify product descriptions, images, sizes, colours, quantities, and packaging against our physical inventory.

Corrected all inaccurate listings and removed any listings that did not accurately represent the products.

Performed a full warehouse inventory audit to ensure inventory records matched physical stock.

Relabelled incorrect SKUs and barcodes where necessary.

Reorganised warehouse storage so similar-looking products and different product variants are stored separately.

Introduced mandatory barcode scanning and SKU verification before picking and packing.

Retrained all warehouse staff on inventory management, order fulfillment, product verification, packaging standards, and quality control procedures.

Retrained all Easy Ship staff with guidance from our Amazon Easy Ship Account Manager on printing and verifying packing slips before dispatch.

Implemented a mandatory final quality inspection before every shipment to verify:

Correct ASIN

Correct SKU

Correct quantity

Correct product variant

Correct packaging

Product condition

Introduced stronger packaging procedures using appropriate boxes, cushioning, and bubble wrap for fragile products.

Removed ASIN B0756H4G84 from our inventory and permanently stopped selling this product due to recurring customer complaints.

Mandatory barcode scanning at both picking and packing stages.

Mandatory printing and verification of Easy Ship packing slips before dispatch.

Separate storage locations for similar-looking products and product variants.

Ongoing staff training with competency assessments before independent order fulfillment.

Daily quality control audits conducted by warehouse supervisors.

Continuous monitoring of Voice of the Customer feedback, NCX metrics, customer returns, and buyer messages to identify and address issues immediately.

We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, packaging quality, and customer satisfaction.

The corrective and preventive measures outlined above have strengthened our operational controls and will ensure customers consistently receive the correct products in the expected condition.

✔️ I understand Amazon’s Selling Policies and Seller Code of Conduct about material difference and why they’re important.

✔️ I verify that all information I’ve provided is accurate and complete.

✔️ I commit to maintaining accurate product listings that match exactly what customers will receive.

✔️ I will ensure that all future shipments match the product detail pages exactly.

It's one of the most frustrating situations in selling: a buyer opens an A-to-Z Guarantee claim, receives a full refund, and keeps your product. You're left out of pocket with no item returned. Sound familiar?

You're not alone — and there are steps you can take. Let's break down what's actually happening, what your rights are, and how to protect your account going forward.

🔍 Why does this happen?

The A-to-Z Guarantee exists to protect buyers when a transaction doesn't go as expected. When Amazon investigates a claim, the decision depends on evidence like:

  • Proof of delivery (tracking with signature confirmation)
  • Buyer-seller messaging history
  • Whether the seller responded within the required timeframe

If Amazon cannot confirm delivery to the buyer's satisfaction — even with basic tracking — the claim may be granted without requiring the buyer to return the item.

⚠️ The impact on your account

An A-to-Z claim that isn't denied counts towards your Order Defect Rate (ODR). Amazon requires sellers to maintain an ODR below 1% over a rolling 60-day period. Too many defects can trigger:

• Account health warnings

• Listing restrictions

• In severe cases, account deactivation

You can monitor this via your Account Health Dashboard in Seller Central.

✅ What you can do RIGHT NOW

1. Respond promptly — always: You have 48 hours to respond to Amazon's request for additional information. If you miss this window, the claim is automatically granted in the buyer's favour, your account is debited, and your ODR takes a hit.

2. Provide compelling evidence: If you used Buy Shipping and shipped on time, Amazon will cover delivery-related A-to-Z claims and they won't count against your ODR, no additional proof of delivery is required for this protection. If you did NOT use Buy Shipping, a carrier delivery scan alone may not be enough to win a claim. Strengthen your case with:

• Signature confirmation

• Photographic proof of delivery

• Proof of item weight matching the dispatched parcel

• Any buyer-seller messages acknowledging receipt

3. Appeal the decision: If a claim is granted and you believe it was unfair, you can appeal. Present new, relevant evidence not previously considered. Be factual, concise, and professional.

4. Request a return before refunding: If you choose to refund proactively, remember: you may request the buyer return the item before you process that refund. This is within your rights as a seller.

5. Report suspected buyer abuse: Amazon's systems evaluate buyer behaviour patterns. If you believe a buyer is abusing the A-to-Z process, report it through Seller Central by going to Performance > Account Health > Report Abuse and selecting the appropriate reason. Amazon does investigate repeat abusers.

🛡️ Prevent future claims — best practices

• Always use tracked delivery with signature confirmation for high-value items

• Communicate proactively with buyers about dispatch and delivery timelines

• Keep your messaging within Amazon's platform — off-platform comms aren't considered in disputes

• Set realistic delivery expectations in your listings

• Monitor your Account Health Dashboard weekly

🔥 Unpopular opinion time

Here's a debate that divides sellers every time it comes up:

"Signature confirmation on every order is overkill — the cost eats into margins and most buyers are legitimate."

Others say:

"After losing £200+ to a claim I couldn't win, I'll never send anything without it again. Non-negotiable."

Where do you stand? And at what order value does signature confirmation become essential for you — £20? £50? £100+?

Seller Fulfilled Prime Returns Postage
by Seller_FJMRkAyEboZYQ

Hello @Seller_yBurHdCvWYvTz

Great question. For Seller Fulfilled Prime orders, items eligible for free returns should provide at least one free return shipping option to customers, regardless of the return reason - including "no longer needed." The "Free Returns" badge on your product detail page indicates the item qualifies for this.

If customers are being asked to pay for returns on eligible items, it's likely a system display issue rather than a policy one. A few things worth checking: verify the item weight (anything over 50 lb may not qualify for free returns), confirm the "Free Returns" badge is displaying correctly on the detail page, and if the issue persists, it's worth flagging to Selling Partner Support so they can investigate whether there's a technical glitch with how the return method is being presented to customers.

This will ensure the technical team can investigate the discrepancy between the badge display and the return method options presented to customers. If you've already created a support case, feel free to share your case ID here and I'll take a look.

Thanks so much for bringing this up - it's helpful for the community to discuss these nuances!

I have suddenly starting getting lots of these in the books category. All asking for invoices with 50 copies of each titles which is obviously NOT going to be possible.

Are Amazon slowly but surely trying to destroy the used books trade?

Ads placements have changed drastically.
by Seller_bOircv0UXN9jU
Amazon replied

My ads campaign always had placement ratio of roughly 1% top of search, 50% rest of search and 49% product pages.

As of yesterday, it has changed to 0%, 1% and 99%.

Obviously, product pages ads placements compared to search result ads placements are pretty bad. There have been no sales from my ads yesterday, and that's not surprising, as they do not pop up in search! When I search for my products, they do show up, but never have "Sponsored" and are never top of the line, which they used to be previously.

I created a new campaign for just one product and increased the bid quite a lot (from .19 to .35). That product now advertises as previously (in search and even in top of search).

What happened to my previous campaign? Should I just move my top products to the new campaign and keep the higher bid, while deleting the old campaign?

Please help! :)

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for advice from experienced FBA sellers and Amazon moderators regarding a Dangerous Goods (Hazmat) issue.

Timeline:

  • I enrolled my ASIN B0B9MGR6C8 in the FBA Dangerous Goods Programme.
  • I submitted the required SDS and Dangerous Goods documentation.
  • Amazon approved the ASIN, and it showed as Dangerous Goods Programme Fulfillable.
  • I shipped 384 units to FBA.
  • Amazon successfully fulfilled 117 customer orders from this inventory.

Later, the remaining 267 units went into FC Processing and my listing became out of stock.

I contacted Seller Support several times between 17 July and 28 July, and I was repeatedly informed that the inventory was only undergoing normal FC verification. Amazon has since acknowledged that these communications were incorrect.

On 29 July 2026, my Inventory Ledger shows that all 267 units were moved from SELLABLE to DEFECTIVE and then immediately DISPOSED on the same day.

Amazon's specialist team later explained that during a physical compliance review they found an "Extremely Flammable" GHS pictogram on the product packaging and relied on Section F.7.3 of the Amazon Services Europe Business Solutions Agreement to dispose of the inventory immediately.

Amazon also confirmed that:

  • the information provided by Seller Support during FC Processing was inaccurate;
  • the 50% reimbursement previously offered should never have been offered;
  • no reimbursement will be provided.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone experienced a situation where an ASIN was approved for the FBA Dangerous Goods Programme, inventory was accepted and sold, and then the remaining inventory was disposed of following a later physical compliance review?
  2. If inventory is first moved to DEFECTIVE before disposal, should there normally be a Removal Order ID, or is immediate disposal without a removal order standard practice for this type of Dangerous Goods classification?
  3. Is there any published seller-facing policy explaining why inventory that was already accepted into the Dangerous Goods Programme and fulfilled through FBA can later be disposed of without reimbursement following a physical compliance review?

I'm trying to understand whether the process followed in my case is standard procedure or whether there are additional appeal options available.

Bulk Appeal Compliance requests
by Seller_YeWcEeTwlVO93

For listing-level violations (e.g., policy violations, restricted products), sellers can submit one appeal for multiple violations that share the same appeal requirement:

  1. Go to Seller Central → Account Health Dashboard
  2. Click "Appeal" on a bulk-eligible enforcement
  3. Look for the "Add More ASINs to Appeal" button
  4. A table of eligible enforcements (up to 50) will appear
  5. If you have more than 50, use the search bar to find additional ASINs
  6. Submit the appeal. Up to 10 enforcements can be grouped per submission

For product compliance documentation requests (e.g., safety certifications, test reports), sellers can use the Bulk Upload Template.

Note that not all enforcement types are bulk-eligible.

Let me know if you need assistance!
