We're suddenly started to see the same and it's very intermittent like you're finding it. We've been doing years of Premium Delivery Next Day and have never had this issue or seen padding before so something new has shifted.

Our OTDR is at 94% so still above the metric needed. And in the Fulfilment Insights Dashboard where you can see the padding % we're over-performing in terms of Promised delivery time: 4.8 calendar days / Actual delivery time: 3.4 calendar days. So we're delivering 1.4 days ahead. What more do they want?

"Your delivery promises were extended by 1.1 calendar days on average to reduce late deliveries to buyers." - why? we don't need it 🙈

I'm going to assume they're testing something because the figures aren't tallying.

Delivery Promise Extensions

I know this is a bit of an older post but we're suddenly starting to see the same problem. This seems to a be new thing that they've started doing more of as this topic is cropping up more and more.

Delivery Promise Extensions
by Seller_WD80mtpYHjvBN

@Seller_UdCB3aWxjRwo9 Hey there! Thanks for jumping into this thread — you're definitely not alone in seeing this, and I can totally understand the frustration when the numbers just don't seem to add up.

Amazon's system uses delivery promise padding as a proactive tool to protect your metrics, to account for unanticipated or uncontrolled circumstances, even when you're already performing well (see this help page for more detail).

Even though your OTDR is sitting at 94% and you're delivering 1.4 days ahead of the promised date, the system is looking at broader patterns the network to determine where padding might reduce the risk of late deliveries. Think of it less as a reflection of your current performance and more as a system-wide safeguard.

My suggestion would be to keep doing what you're doing, your actual delivery performance is strong, and that data will work in your favor over time. If the padding persists and you feel it's negatively impacting your business, it's worth reaching out to Seller Support to flag it.

Hope this helps!

Amazon have seemingly changed the system from you confirming you've dispatched the order to the customer receiving it. You have to be above 90%. Mine has dropped from a constant 100% to 94% in 4 days....Royal mail currently only achieve 73% next day delivery so it's only a matter of time before we're all suspended.

ON TIME DELIVERY RATE

Quick update... it's been few weeks since I set 2 days handling time (but I do send orders everyday). My OTDR is currently sligthly over 94%... I believe if I had 1 day hadling time set, it would drop below 90%... How you guys doing?
