Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice from sellers who have dealt with FBA reimbursements, mandatory removals or incorrectly classified inventory.
I had 312 identical units of one product in Amazon FBA. Amazon has now disposed of 52 units, and I am extremely frustrated because I still have not received a clear explanation of why.
Here is the timeline:
1. May 5, 2026: Amazon says it sent a notification warning that the product required compliance documentation and that documents needed to be submitted to avoid deactivation.
I submitted the required compliance documents. The testing was Passed by CQC Intime Testing Technology Co., Ltd.
2. July 22, 2026: The compliance testing was completed successfully.
3. August 3, 2026: Amazon says it sent another notification stating that the listing was deactivated due to missing compliance documents and that I had 30 days to remove the FBA inventory, otherwise it would be disposed of at my expense.
I appealed and provided the required documents.
4. August 9, 2026: 52 units were placed in Defective status.
5. August 12, 2026: Amazon Support confirmed in writing that the listing was active and had no policy violations. I was also told that the offer was not appearing only because the inventory was out of stock.
From August onward, I contacted Seller Support repeatedly, often every 2–3 days, asking why these 52 units were Defective and how I could fix the problem. I was repeatedly told that the investigation was still ongoing and that I should wait.
September 22, 2026: Amazon says it initiated an automatic removal and destroyed the 52 units.
The biggest problem is that Amazon has given me different explanations:
- First, I was told the compliance documents had not been submitted. I provided proof that they had been submitted and passed, and Amazon confirmed that the listing was active and compliant.
- Later, Support mentioned possible label-related and detail-page defects, but could not provide any specific evidence or photos confirming these defects.
- Support also confirmed that the inventory report contains no specific reason explaining why these 52 units were classified as Defective.
So after almost two months of repeatedly asking for an explanation and being told to wait for the investigation, the inventory was simply destroyed.
I am now also being charged €554.32 for the disposal itself, separate from the value of the 52 destroyed units.
This has been extremely upsetting. I have been actively trying to resolve the issue for almost two months, but received very little information, and in the end my inventory was destroyed while I was still waiting for Amazon's investigation to be completed.
Amazon is now reviewing my reimbursement request.
Has anyone experienced something similar? How did you successfully challenge the disposal and obtain reimbursement when Amazon could not provide a specific documented reason or evidence for the Defective status?
I would really appreciate advice from experienced sellers.
