It's one of the most frustrating situations in selling: a buyer opens an A-to-Z Guarantee claim, receives a full refund, and keeps your product. You're left out of pocket with no item returned. Sound familiar?
You're not alone — and there are steps you can take. Let's break down what's actually happening, what your rights are, and how to protect your account going forward.
🔍 Why does this happen?
The A-to-Z Guarantee exists to protect buyers when a transaction doesn't go as expected. When Amazon investigates a claim, the decision depends on evidence like:
If Amazon cannot confirm delivery to the buyer's satisfaction — even with basic tracking — the claim may be granted without requiring the buyer to return the item.
⚠️ The impact on your account
An A-to-Z claim that isn't denied counts towards your Order Defect Rate (ODR). Amazon requires sellers to maintain an ODR below 1% over a rolling 60-day period. Too many defects can trigger:
• Account health warnings
• Listing restrictions
• In severe cases, account deactivation
You can monitor this via your Account Health Dashboard in Seller Central.
✅ What you can do RIGHT NOW
1. Respond promptly — always: You have 48 hours to respond to Amazon's request for additional information. If you miss this window, the claim is automatically granted in the buyer's favour, your account is debited, and your ODR takes a hit.
2. Provide compelling evidence: If you used Buy Shipping and shipped on time, Amazon will cover delivery-related A-to-Z claims and they won't count against your ODR, no additional proof of delivery is required for this protection. If you did NOT use Buy Shipping, a carrier delivery scan alone may not be enough to win a claim. Strengthen your case with:
• Signature confirmation
• Photographic proof of delivery
• Proof of item weight matching the dispatched parcel
• Any buyer-seller messages acknowledging receipt
3. Appeal the decision: If a claim is granted and you believe it was unfair, you can appeal. Present new, relevant evidence not previously considered. Be factual, concise, and professional.
4. Request a return before refunding: If you choose to refund proactively, remember: you may request the buyer return the item before you process that refund. This is within your rights as a seller.
5. Report suspected buyer abuse: Amazon's systems evaluate buyer behaviour patterns. If you believe a buyer is abusing the A-to-Z process, report it through Seller Central by going to Performance > Account Health > Report Abuse and selecting the appropriate reason. Amazon does investigate repeat abusers.
🛡️ Prevent future claims — best practices
• Always use tracked delivery with signature confirmation for high-value items
• Communicate proactively with buyers about dispatch and delivery timelines
• Keep your messaging within Amazon's platform — off-platform comms aren't considered in disputes
• Set realistic delivery expectations in your listings
• Monitor your Account Health Dashboard weekly

🔥 Unpopular opinion time
Here's a debate that divides sellers every time it comes up:
"Signature confirmation on every order is overkill — the cost eats into margins and most buyers are legitimate."
Others say:
"After losing £200+ to a claim I couldn't win, I'll never send anything without it again. Non-negotiable."
Where do you stand? And at what order value does signature confirmation become essential for you — £20? £50? £100+?

Anyone else noticed this? A T24 parcel dispatched on Monday 20th July from England to most of urban mainland England/Wales/Scotland shows an estimated delivery date of Tuesday 21st, but England to Northern Ireland is showing an estimated delivery date of Saturday 25th.
Typically, it would only ever show 2 days (Wednesday 22nd), unless there were padding added.
Other areas which normally show 2 days (e.g. the Scottish Highlands) are still showing 2 days.
I checked on the stores of a few forum regulars I know to use the same settings/service, and it seems to be across the board rather than just my account. I don't know if it is affecting more than just Tracked 24 and SSA.
I'm not aware of any issues with RM in NI or anything else (e.g. weather) that should affect Northern Ireland as a whole. Monday 13th July was a bank holiday, but any disruption from that shouldn't have affected them so much and for so long.

I am requesting assistance regarding an ongoing issue, where a customer has been granted an A to Z claim for £241.99, for a return they made outside of the 30 day return window. I disputed the claim, stating the following;
The customer opened a return on the 11th May. This was 5 days after the order was delivered. I left this return request open for 27 days. Then, on the 6th June, I closed the return request, as it had then been 32 days since the order was delivered, and so the return was no longer valid, as per your own terms and policies that state orders must be returned within 30 days. Then, after I had closed the return request, the customer suddenly decided they were going to now return the order, and did so on the 12th June, a full 38 days after the order was delivered. On the tracking, you can clearly see that this was not delivered to me. It was left outside of my house when I was on holiday. Therefore, I don't even have the return, as it was no longer there when I got home. So, I do not have the return, and the customer returned it well outside of the 30 day return window, despite having weeks to return it and me leaving the return window open for them the entire time. Only once the return request was closed did they suddenly decide to return it. Therefore, as previously confirmed by you, I have no obligation to refund the customer and so this claim must be overturned. You cannot completely ignore your own terms and policies that state customers must return orders within 30 days. This customer failed to do so, and so is not obligated to a refund.
Today, I have received a response stating the claim has been upheld. I have responded to the claim, again disputing it, and contacted the Managing Director, but I am also posting here to try and get this resolved. If this continues to not be resolved and the claim overturned, I will be escalating this further to ensure my funds are recouped.
I hope to get a response soon.
Hello, I have been trying to grant access to our employees of our UK account but when I send the initial invitation they accept it and then when I go to the permission section to grant them permission, then on top of that page I see cards of all the EU and UK markets with button saying " Finish Verification" and I have clicked on that Finish Verification button for all the markets and it just shows that the verification data has been submitted and now I need to wait for 2 week, while it been more then 3 weeks and I have received no response.
Then below that are the actual permissions and there I see a warning sign on almost all permissions that says "Identity verification is required in some countries/regions before granting this permission. Expand this permission to see affected locations, or review the required actions at the top of the page." While I have provided all the data for verification of my employee and still Amazon isn't helping here

So I am trying my luck here to see if Amazon support staff would help me with this issue.
I have also created a case with id: 12957896672 and it has all the information, and I was told that the team will reply in 5 days and it's been almost 10 days with no response from Amazon technical support team.
@Seller_4GjtS9k0cnHHvI have heard about you healping some of the people I know so I am tagging you to see if you would be able to help me out here.
Thanks
we send regularly to NI always with T24 and know the past month they’re taking an average 3-5 days to deliver. It’s rarely next day so I think it’s SSA doing its thing it’s meant to do and calculating the average delivery time and adjusting
Ive never seen this tool before so tried and registered a violation for B0BHJPHP1J as the EAN code taken and Generic listing created - Within 5 secs I get an email complaint ID 13050062802 about Intellegent Property Infingements must be submitted through the Report a violation tool in Brand registy. I seleced "other" in the tool as there was nothing for misuse of Brand
- What is the point of tools that do nothing - the catalogue is in a mess and there are no reporting methods for abuse
So I've been selling on Amazon for over 12 years....99.999999% of my orders are FBA, read on....
I had a couple of customer returns...so I listed one of them as FBM.
The item sold, I took it to the Post Office the next working day, handed over the package & thought no more of it.
about 5 days later I got a message from the Customer "I have a Royal Mail Card here...asking for £5 for the postage deficit"
Odd, because I sent via Evri...I checked the Evri tracking & the last update was "You parcel has been dropped off" - in other words, no updates since I dropped it off at the Post Office.
then the penny dropped...someone at the Post Office has placed my Evri parcel into a Royal Mail Bag ...when this happens, rather than send the package back to where it came from, the Royal Mail actually attempt to deliver it - but apply a £5 charge.
I instantly sent a replacement package to the customer (using Royal Mail this time) & upgraded the postage to 24hr delivery - the customer received the replacement without issue (he was fine about everything)
This morning, I logged onto the mobile seller central App...to see an Orange Banner "Your account is at risk of deactivation"
My heart stopped.
Because I have no FBM order history...and because this one order that was sent FBM didn't go smoothly (through no fault of my own), my order defect rate is now woeful! And that's what the warning related to.
Feedback to Amazon - never (& I mean NEVER) send out an "Your account is at risk of deactivation" when what you really mean is "your account is at risk of having FBM Order fulfilment disabled"
I don't know how you guys cope wit the stress of FBM.
Anyone any idea why my premium delivery 2 days on the listing to buyers shows delivery 5 days time e.g today 18th it shows Friday 24th, but when the order actually comes through the buyer has been given the correct date of Wednesday 22nd of delivery so it tells me to ship by 1 working day Monday 20th, deliver in 2, appears the displayed amazon page dates dont align to when the order comes through so the dates mismatch.

Customer messages us with a blackmail attempt to get a product for free...
"This item is fake.I want a refund or I will be contacting trading standards. Its not even got a box"
The item was a known branded product that is manufactured as a standalone product without a box, with the EAN and information directly on the container. (like a tin of lynx deodorant)
After standing our ground with the customer and inviting them to return for refund (we even supplied them a free return label) and that we would be more than happy for trading standards to look at it, they decided to keep the item and in over 5 weeks, have not said a word or returned the product.
Of course Amazon picked up on the message in the buyer/seller messaging and totally ignored the blackmail attempt, and then put this ASIN into a Product Authenticity Customer Complaint violation.
Next came the normal nightmare of appeal.
Supplied invoice... Rejected, cannot verify supplier
Supplied supplier supplier invoice... Rejected, cannot verify supplier.
Spoke to health team back and forth for 4 weeks..... Appeal ACCEPTED.
Then got a phone call from health team, they cannot re-instate listing as it has been deleted from your inventory. (was advised to delete from inventory in first health team phone call)
Was told to relist the ASIN... cannot relist as it is blocked
Was told to get seller support to relist for me.... cannot relist as it is blocked, appeal though health dashboard.
Health team.... DO NOT re-appeal through health dashboard, get seller support to put ASIN back in your inventory.
Seller support..... cannot relist as it is blocked, appeal though health dashboard.
Round and round in a loop of death as 1 internal team cannot talk to another internal team.
Health team.... this is 100% an Amazon issue and we will sort it, DO NOT re-appeal.
Your case has been shared with a specialised team who will resolve this technical issue on their end. Please note the following:
-- You do not need to reapply for brand approval.
-- You do not need to start the process over again.
-- Please do not attempt to relist the ASIN yourself or submit any new appeals while this is being resolved, as new submissions could delay the process.
-- You will receive an email notification once your listing has been reinstated. This typically takes a few days for the team to action.
-- I completely understand how frustrating this experience has been, especially after the conflicting information you received.
2 weeks, several cases and 5 phone calls later.... this is 100% an Amazon issue and we will sort it.
each time getting rejected by 1 internal team telling me to appeal through the dashboard while another team tells me not to as the appeal has already been accepted.
For over 5 weeks back and forth in this loop, all the while, my account suffering from the health point hit.
Case 2

id 13050568802
Received a Restricted Product violation for a banned ingredient.
Checked the ASIN and sure enough, through an obvious bad merge or ASIN creation, the banned ingredient was in the detail page.
Contacted seller support and supplied them with the evidence to show item was safe and it was a listing detail error.
Had confirmation from support that the ingredients had successfully been updated.
Then sent the same product photo's in my hand to appeal team showing it does not contain banned ingredient, along with a screenshot and reference to the earlier case with support that the violating ingredient had been removed from the ASIN.
After a few hours, the ASIN was re-instated and the health dashboard updated to remove the violation.
24 hours later, the same ASIN has been de-activated again for the same reason.
Sent same info in appeal.... rejected.
Spoke to heath team... cannot understand why it was re de-activated, another internal team vs internal team to review.
Exact same product, same EAN and its other size variants all being sold on Amazon
It is just an absolute nightmare dealing with Amazon, it AI and it's internal teams that just hit reject, go back to square 1, without even looking at what is presented to them.
Hi everyone, and hello to the Amazon Community Managers.
I am writing on behalf of a British business (Edinco LTD) to flag a severe backend ledger glitch that frontline Seller Support has completely ignored for over 30 continuous days.
Amazon’s fulfillment centers have physically received, opened, and completely missed our high-value products without taking any responsibility. Instead, frontline support is stuck in a loop, continuously using an automated 6-month system expiration flag to close our files without human review.
🚨 The Scale of the Warehouse Loss
Amazon has physically lost a massive total of 1,297 high-value units across four shipments, destroying our business capital:
Shipment FBA15L3B8X2W: 200 Units Shipped, 199 Units Completely Missing.
Shipment FBA15HSQZP31: 400 Units Shipped, 399 Units Completely Missing
Shipment FBA15KB3ZQBG: 200 Units Shipped, 199 Units Completely Missing.
Shipment FBA15HJS2JM4: 500 Units Shipped, 500 Units Completely Missing
⚖️ UK Statutory Law vs. Internal 6-Month Policy
Amazon's internal dashboard timelines do not override United Kingdom law. Under the UK Limitation Act 1980 (Section 5), contract breaches carry a statutory limitation window of six (6) years, not six months. We filed five separate structural disputes well within your internal operational windows (Case IDs: 11994869532, 11994717782, 11750264242, 11750415922, 11750459212). Amazon’s internal operational backlogs cannot erase our statutory legal rights.
🔍 Irrefutable Proof of Physical Custody & System Glitches
1. Flawless Physical Weight Match: For shipment FBA15L3B8X2W, our manufacturer's packing list logs the box weight as exactly 12.70 KG. Amazon's internal carrier workflow dashboard records the carrier weight as exactly 12.70 KG. The system could not log this identical weight down to the decimal point if the physical package was never handed over.
2. The Single-Unit Warehouse Liability Admission: Across three separate shipments (FBA15L3B8X2W, FBA15HSQZP31, FBA15KB3ZQBG), Amazon's warehouses checked in exactly 1 single unit as "Warehouse Lost" (Reimbursement IDs: 8237695182 and 7145363182). Under the common law of Bailment, a warehouse cannot log a unit as "Warehouse Lost" unless the entire box was successfully delivered and opened by your staff. Amazon cannot take custody to pay for 1 unit and then claim the rest of the box disappeared.
3. Duplicated Ledger Glitch: Support agents are reading corrupted backend data—claiming Reimbursement ID 7617569582 (£470.00) covers these shipments, when that specific ledger credit belongs entirely to an unrelated, paid shipment (FBA15K615H48).
🙏 Request to Amazon Community Managers:
Frontline support is stuck reading a glitched database screen. We have uploaded matching supplier invoices, carrier receipts, physical box photos, and clear weight confirmations across all of these cases, but have faced 30 days of absolute silence.
Could a Forum Moderator please step in and manually route Case IDs 12871419682, 12892057382, 12900425722, and 12895029312 to a Senior Inbound Operations Lead or Technical Account Manager? We need a human supervisor to bypass the automated policy blocks and review these cases on their true physical merits.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
