Hi Sellers!

Whether you're a new seller building your first brand or a seasoned pro expanding your catalogue, understanding Intellectual Property (IP) policies is one of the most important steps you can take to protect your business — and avoid account health issues. We know IP can feel overwhelming, so we've put together this quick guide to help you stay compliant and keep your account in good standing.

Our Seller University team created a video that breaks down everything you need to know about IP on Amazon — from trade marks and copyrights to patents and what happens when complaints are filed.

👉 Watch the Seller University video: Understanding Amazon's Intellectual Property Policies

This video covers:

  • Amazon's intellectual property policy
  • How to create listings that do not violate a Rights Owner's intellectual property
  • How to respond to notifications that you have violated Amazon's intellectual property policy due to a trade mark or copyright infringement or a counterfeit product

🛡️ Key Steps to Stay IP-Compliant

1. Know the policies — Familiarise yourself with Amazon's IP rules before listing products

2. Verify your sourcing — Ensure you have proper authorisation to sell branded products

3. Register your brand — If you own a brand, enrol in Amazon Brand Registry for added protection

4. Monitor your Account Health Dashboard — Address any IP complaints promptly

5. Contact Account Health Support (AHS)— If you receive an IP notification, reach out to AHS immediately for guidance on next steps

Watch a PODCAST and receive £5 off PROMO CODE...
by Seller_u0Hc31ASdrIaz
Amazon replied

Did you all receive this promo offer and watched the podcast, only to find nothing happened and it didn't work?

They keep telling me I will get it though, but they need to fix a glitch first, which prevents it to work right now. That was 3 weeks ago!

It's only £5 but hey. Plus I thought Amazon was better than ebay at this kind of thing. (I also never got a £5 off offer from ebay, but less surprise there as I no longer trust eBay).

Had a good few years on amazon but sales have now completely collapsed. Nothing changed and simply dont know why the sudden loss in sales. So we are closing the shop and solely replying on our own website. Has anyone else closed their amazon store and gone solo with their own website? We are sick of the continuous jumping through hoops, customers fraudulently making claims, bad service by royal mail, and the DD+7 payment disbursements. Its simply not worth selling on here. Cost of advertising is through the roof as are the fees. Anyone else gone through similar?

I’ve started a small independent project to analyse the logic of recurring problems discussed in the Amazon Seller Forums.

The aim is not to attack individual moderators or complain for the sake of it. I am trying to look at forum cases more carefully and ask a different question:

When sellers report confusing problems, what patterns keep appearing underneath?

After reviewing a number of cases with ChatGPT, some repeated patterns are starting to stand out.

What seems to come up again and again:

- different parts of Amazon showing different “truths” at the same time

(for example browser A shows one thing, browser B shows another, or buyer-facing pages and seller-facing pages do not match)

- FBA / FBM transition problems

where listings, stock, or fulfilment status seem to overlap or drift during conversion

- catalogue or variation changes that look correct at first, then break later

as if background processes overwrite or reassign something after the seller has already finished editing

- support or moderator replies that answer the surface symptom, but do not really address the contradiction underneath

- uncertainty being pushed back onto the seller

so the seller ends up carrying the operational risk of a system state they cannot fully see or control

In short, the analysis so far suggests that many seller problems are not isolated mistakes, but part of a wider pattern of:

state mismatch, hidden system drift, procedural replies, and risk being shifted onto sellers

I know many of us have spent hours trying to work around strange catalogue, inventory, order, browser, variation, or fulfilment behaviour. Often sellers discover useful workarounds long before support gives a proper explanation.

So I would like to invite other sellers to share cases here if you want.

Useful examples would include:

- screenshots showing contradictions

- cases where support gave conflicting answers

- browser differences

- FBA / FBM switching problems

- stranded / phantom stock issues

- variation family changes that happened by themselves

- order handling logic that did not make sense

- any workaround you discovered yourself

I can use ChatGPT to help analyse the case structure, identify likely system patterns, and organise the findings clearly. If enough people share examples, we may be able to build a better picture of what is really going wrong — and also collect practical workarounds that may help other sellers.

I’m especially interested in:

- what happened

- what Amazon said happened

- what you think was actually going on

- whether you found any workaround that reduced the damage

Even if your case was never solved properly, it may still be useful. Sometimes the unresolved cases are the ones that reveal the most.

If anyone wants to contribute an example, feel free to post it below.

Hi everyone,

After reading a lot of forum threads, I noticed that many real Amazon problems get buried because the posts are written in very different ways. Some are emotional, some are too short, some miss key steps, and then similar issues become hard to compare.

So I started using ChatGPT to help turn seller problems into a more structured post format.

The goal is not to make posts sound clever or polished.

The goal is to make them easier for:

  • other sellers to compare
  • moderators to scan
  • recurring workflow or system problems to show up more clearly
  • workarounds to be shared more easily

If more sellers describe their cases in a similar structure, the forum may become more useful as a place to spot patterns, instead of each seller struggling alone with what looks like a one-off problem.

Here are the prompts:

Chatgpt

Help me turn my Amazon seller problem into a clear forum post.

Please organise it under these headings:

1. Scenario

2. What triggered the issue

3. What Amazon showed me

4. What I already tried

5. Why this seems like a system, workflow, or policy problem

6. What I want to understand

7. Question for other sellers: has anyone seen the same pattern or found a workaround?

Please keep the tone calm, factual, and useful for pattern spotting, not just complaining.

Germini

Act as an expert Amazon seller consultant and forum copywriter. I am going to give you details about a problem I am facing on Amazon Seller Central.

Your goal is to help me turn my problem into a clear, structured forum post designed to spot patterns and find workarounds.

Please organize the post under these exact headings:

Scenario

What triggered the issue

What Amazon showed me (Errors, emails, or dashboard notifications)

What I already tried

Why this seems like a system, workflow, or policy problem

What I want to understand

Question for other sellers: (A call to action asking if anyone else has seen the same pattern or found a workaround)

Guidelines for your response:

Keep the tone calm, factual, and analytical (we want to avoid sounding like a rant so moderators and experienced sellers don't ignore it).

If I didn't provide enough information for any of the 7 sections above, do not make things up. Instead, give me a draft of what you have, and ask me specific, targeted questions to help fill in the blanks.

Here are the details of my problem:

[Paste your raw notes, messy thoughts, or angry rant here]

I think this may be useful especially for issues like:

account deactivation after legal entity change

broken catalogue updates

stranded or missing FBA inventory

listing suppression loops

conflicting Seller Central workflows

support replies that do not match the actual problem

It will not magically make Amazon fix things, but it may help us produce better input, compare cases more easily, and learn from each other faster.

If anyone tries it, it would be interesting to see whether it helps make threads clearer and whether similar cases start to line up more visibly.

Hi all,

Hope you can help? I was deregistered for VAT on the 1st August this year and contacted Amazon straight away to inform them. They are now demanding a VAT number from me and obviously I haven't got one. I filled out all their forms yesterday but again when it came to the tax form it wanted a VAT number so I sent a screenshot of the message from HMRC saying that as of the 1st of August I will be deregistered from VAT but need to pay my VAT up to the 31st July 2026. It was a very basic message and didn't have my Vat number as it was sent direct to my HMRC messages.

Has anyone been through this? I'm literally pulling my hair out as I've been in business for 15 years and Amazon are saying I have 56 days to comply or they will stop my selling rights.

Hope someone can point me to some help. I spoke to an advisor for almost an hour yesterday and they said to fill out the form. AAArgh!

Many thanks

Sandy

We think the one who has been defrauding us (based on what they sell and what the Amazon accounts have been buying from us) is on Onbuy as "Tool Operations Limited" (google "onbuy browse by shop" and you'll get there, I can't drop a link on this forum obviously).

Do they "sell" items which you have been having this issue with?

Which Mods are still active on UK forum ?
by Seller_ZVAz3d5lZuGid
Amazon replied

Having replied to several posts, it is obvious that many of the mods who we thought were active, obviously are not any longer, and many with no activity for months, even years, so why are their names still appearing on the dropdown ?

As the only way to get the attention of mods to look into SS cases for us, it would be really helpful to know which mods ARE still operating on the UK forum, and those that are no longer around, for their names to be deleted from the dropdown. Surely this is something that Amazon should and must do ?

Another thing I have noticed when trying to start this new thread is that NONE of the categories or suggested tags are relevant for forum issues, so have had to use a random category, and tag !

I will tag in some of the ones who seem to have had some recent activiity, and hope that at least one of you will respond, and address the issues that I have mentioned.

How do I find my storefront shop page URL?
by Seller_tRuvBEHDedp4q
Amazon replied

I want to put my amazon storefront URL onto some promotion material -but have hit a brick wall with regards finding out what it is.

I thought it was amazon.co.uk/shops/ABC

(obviously ABC being my user display name) - but this does not work. I get a page that says the web address is not a functioning page on the site.

So I googled the question and was told I could get it from Settings-Account Info-Business Information

But no - there is no store URL I can see under any of the options.

So I tried Settings-Account Info-Store Info

This has a link for 'Your Seller Profile' - and clicking that just shows me all the country sites I am able to sell on (I only sell on the UK site)

Another googled method told me to :

Navigate to one of your active product listings on the Amazon website. Find the "Sold by" section under the buy box. Click on your Seller Name. On the next page, click the link that says "[Your Seller Name] Storefront"

But there is no [Your Seller Name] Storefront link

There is, however, a sequence of tabs one of which is 'Products' so I click that thinking it will take me to a list of my products which is does but the URL is (well I want to include the link but get told off for using offensive language trying to post with a link even though it is an Amazon web address but it is something like amazon/s?me=A1B3RD1FRZK8FD&marketplaceID=A1F83G8C2ARO7P

Which again is hopeless for me to use in promotion material

I just want a simple URL I can put on promotion/advertising material to direct customers to my amazon store but everything I try leads me nowhere. It cannot be this hard for me to give customers a link so they can go straight to my products/store on Amazon surely?
