Adding a new product
I have just purchased a collection of private printed books on Somerset Archaeology and Natural History.
I am just trying to put them on Amazon, with mixed success. Some already have an entry on here so I copied and pasted the ASIN number I found, but others don’t.
I am going to Add a Product and putting into into a category, but despite putting in all the information - it still asks me for a Product ID Number - which it doesn’t appear to have.

That’s really nice that you are a book collector. You are right, the correct way how to list your items for sale on Amazon is to attach your offers against existing listings for the same product.
In case there is no listing in Amazon’s catalogue, you will need to create one.
When doing so, you need to provide a valid product identifier such as EAN, UPC, JAN or ISBN code, unless you were granted an exemption.
Since this is a book, find it’s ISBN code and use this as the identifier.
You can learn more using this “Create a listing” Amazon help page:
or “How to list products that do not have a GTIN (UPC, EAN, JAN or ISBN)”:
and:
“ASIN creation policy”:
