Adding a product issue

Hi Everyone,

I am new to Amazon and I am struggling adding a product from day one.

I created a private label and get them manufactured in China and brought items to the UK.

I tried to add a product but it asked me Product ID and I couldn’t add.

Then contacted to amazon help and got GTIN exemption as “Generic” and added item but my brand name was not written.

So I decided to have GS1 barcode, paid £140 and created a GTIN13 number for my product.

Tried to add a product but amazon system says that my EAN number is not matching with the brand name or manufacturer.

I contacted with GS1 and they said that nothing wrong with the GTIN13 number.

I am not able to add product using the GS1 number, I can add only as Generic.

Do I need to register a trademark with the same name of GS1 registry to be able to use GS1 number?
Without registering trademark can’t I use the GS1 number for my listing?

I am very confused as I never used such systems.

Now I applied for trademark but it may take very long time to get registered.

How can I add my products? Do you have any advise? what shall I do? I invested a lot but not able to list the items.

I appreciate if someone helps me on this.

Many thanks.

Hi

You will need to register your Brand and register it with amazon, as part of the process within GS1 you will need to show your product on line with the correct EAN number

I would sort this out before you start selling on amazon as i am still having issues today as i did the same as you and opted for an exemption. Looking back i would have registered everything first and listed with my Brand name and EAN numbers, this would have saved me loads of grief

In the meantime you could find a third party to sell your product if you have them ready to go

Hi in GS1 add your brand name and repeat it again in sub brand… Then on the listing use the brand and manufacturer the exact same way you entered it in GS1… Be aware GS1 usually suncs with amazon within 24hrs but on occasion it can take upto 72 hrs.

Hi
Not sure if this issue has been resolved but we have recently had a similar issue
I have my own brand which is registered etc with amazon, we created more products but were unable to list on amazon as they said the numbers were invalid.
I opened a case and someone from amazon contacted me quite quickly, I had to screen shot the numbers assigned in GS1 and send that in to amazon, i also had to resend a copy of our property rights
Problem sorted within 2 hours
