Amazon Book Search Issues
Is it just me or has anyone noticed that the website format seems to have changed and on many books you can’t narrow down the search based on the format you want?
It’s making it tough to get found as the search pages get filled with kindle editions.
Also has the “See all formats and editions” always been this poor? It’s hard to find for the customer, your edition won’t come up in the main search even if the customer types in your specific version and worst of all the customer can’t arrange the results by price, date etc.
It’s strange that Amazon is the main market for books but has such an unrefined system.

The search is atrocious, but has been like it for months and months. How long is it since you actually looked ?
You can add ‘hardcover’ or ‘paperback’ in the search bar if searching by title/author, and it will display the relevant format.
Most are usually in price order, dependent on the condition selected.

You can also use the “Advanced search” function, which only applies to the Books category. That allows searching by format, publication date, publisher etc

It seems to get worse with every passing week.
You can use advanced search for books:

There is also a well-hidden advanced search for other categories, though it’s a bit hit and miss.
This particular link is to music search but the other categories can be accessed from it too:

Thanks guys. The last time I checked was early 2021 to be fair. The author plus title fix works for most books thanks (the thing is, can we expect customers to search beyond the title though?). But, like for instance, The War of the Worlds H. G. Wells or H.G. Wells doesn’t bring up the paperback, hardback etc. option for me.
I actually have editions the same price as Wordsworth for 2 books but they’re stuck on page 37 and 27 of the “See all formats and editions” page respectively, hidden from view. A good fix which would reduce a bit of frustration is if customers had more manual sorting functions on this page.
I guess I just have to show some patience and hope for the best. It’s a shame as Amazon Prime is an amazing service.
