Can I add tracking number 3 weeks after distpatch
Hi, I have not entered a tracking number when I marked an order dispatched and now its come back to bite me on the bum, now the buyer is claiming INR…(they have obv see that I have not entered the tracking number and are trying it on) Royal mails tracking number shows it was collected by someone with the same surname as the buyer on a Saturday 19th Aug at 11.30am. Is it possible to enter the tracking number now or will it have a negative effect on my account ? many thanks for any help !

You can enter it but Amazon will ignore it. You MUST enter tracking numbers at the time of despatch

We’ve had this before. We buy our shipping on Amazon and as we use 2nd class parcels, no tracking is entered automatically by Amazon. Customers try claiming non-delivery when the ‘delivery confirmation’ shows delivered but when it shows collected, that takes some balls. In our case, Amazon refunded the customer even though the tracking showed it had been collected.

UPDATE - buyer back with the folowwing mesage now ! " No one at my address, xxxxxxx would have signed xxxxx as no who lives there by that name! xxxx is my Maiden name; I have been married for over 15 years. You will need to chase with Royal Mail as this parcel has never been delivered. I will go to Royal Mail office in Largs today. Many thanks Sarah XXXXX "
She has now used her married surname at the end of the message. (but the order she placed has her maiden surname on ti) THe parcel was orderded in her maiden name and the person who collected it from the sorting office used the same surname as her maiden name but with a different initial. Royal mail have typed in Covid as the signature but have state underneath collecy by XXXX . I have now filed a claim with royal mail for this - I suppose I have no alternative but to refund the buyer. So annoyed - whats the point of paying for signed for !

Usually when the buyer is unavailable to accept the order, the postal worker will push a card through the door " Sorry We Missed You ". The customer can reschedule delivery or collect at the delivery office. Upon collection the customer will be required to provide identification and that identification should match the name on the parcel. All delivery offices and even post offices have CCTV so if a claim was raised against the courier the video footage would be able to locate the person who collected the order.
