Customer given old RM tracking number for Amazon Return
I just checked an automated return which was requested and posted by the customer today, and the tracking number when checked on RM tracking website, relates to a delivery made last year at the other end of the country. Has anyone else experienced this. As far as I’m aware RM tracking numbers are only used the once.

We have had this 2 times so far in the last few weeks as well.
I can see this causing issues as Amz CS will say delivered and not check the dates.
Only seems to be happening with Amz RM returns labels.

I do think RM tracking numbers are reused as sometimes if you try to use an old tracking number then it tells you there is no tracking.
I think what has probably happened here is that RM haven’t purged their old tracking numbers or Amazon have started to re-use the tracking numbers too early.

I contacted Seller Support and they have given me various copy and pasted answers, not at all related to the question I have asked. I’d appreciate any suggestions of who else I can contact at Amazon to resolve this.

No. The return package hasn’t arrived either.

We had this happen once a couple of years ago. I only realised it had happened because I had a reason I can’t remember to check the tracking on the order, and the label had been used to return items to us specifically twice. The one most recently, and the one that at that point had been a year prior.
It was very confusing, but it didn’t stop the parcel arriving.

Amazon advised me to speak to Royal Mail in relation to them using the same tracking number twice.

We have noticed this happening a number of times now too. Latest one shows it was delivered in October 2022. Then it was posted at the start of this month for the return and has an accepted scan. We haven’t still recevied it and the customer is demanding a refund (SFP Order).
