Error 8541 - Won't allow me to Create New Product List
I am a new seller to amazon. I have purchase 300 units of Rosemary Oil from Alibaba but the product is branded with the manufacturers logo. I thought this was fine to purchase and sell under my own brand name, as ALL my competitors sell the same branded product but under their own brand name. My products came with their own barcode already on the product. When I go to create a new product listing, and write the barcode that is on the product and then write the name of the product (without any brand names) it comes up with an error 8541 message and won’t allow me to proceed. The item that it is saying it conflicts with is a phone case, and therefore the products are two completely different things.
I am not yet registered as a brand on amazon. I’ve done some research and I’m confused as to why my competitors are selling the same branded product as I am but under their own brand name, as it says this is against amazon rules when i’ve researched this. Please can someone shed some light and help me. I am totally confused and lost as to what to do next.

Looks like someone has used the EAN from the product to list a Phone case.You need to purchase EAN numbers from GS1 & create a new listing.Also be aware if Amazon ask for an invoice Ali invoices are usually rejected

A few flags here I see.
Amazon is now doing a brand approval, which means for you to be able to sell a product under a brand you will likely have to prove that the product has that brand name on it, which yours won’t as I presume you are planning on selling this product under a different brand than it actually is.
Amazon are unlikely to accept invoices from Alibaba
I am not sure what exact certificates etc are required, but I imagine anything that can/is intended to be put on hair or skin should come with some sort of certificates to prove it is safe to do so?
And as Russ says your barcode has been used, so you will need to buy a new one - Amazon will only accept barcodes from GS1
Forget what your competitors are doing, and focus on what you are doing, sadly lots of sellers get away with things that they shouldn’t here, many of them are the reason that Amazon is getting stricter and they may get picked up in time, or they may not.
