Let’s count the rules they broke:
1: offers a payment in exchange for a review
2: requested contact outside of Amazon
3: (debatable) requested a positive review, the wording doesn’t specify either way and showing 5 stars isn’t necessarily requesting 5, as Neil said, it’s not in the spirit of the rules even if it doesn’t actually break them.
With regards to the OP’s post, if you don’t want to completely remove the stars, you could add “empty” ones, like the ones which show up on feedback/review pages before they’ve been clicked, i.e.:
Because the customers DO report sellers if they are not happy with the item.
And yes, I would say that was breaking at least the spirit of the rules, if not actually breaking them.
You are effectively pointing the customer to give 5 stars.
You ask, and leave the options blank.
100% NOT ALLOWED. We had a 7-fig amz business deleted over night for less.
Click the request a review button and you’ll see from the template what you’re allowed to say, you cannot stray too much from that. You cannot put any stars or influence the customers in any way whatsoever. The gift card thing is a total joke, they should be permanently deactivated for that, not fair on other sellers.
Woohoo!! I won 20 dollars… (dollars?)
Yes, it’s a scam asking for positive reviews. You have to go onto a website and it gets complicated but it’s 100% against policy.
I also had this interesting communication from a seller recently:
Seller:
Good evening,
Was your Shedding Brush delivered on time?
Kind regards,

Hi there, I am glad you received it on time! Nothing is worse than waiting days for a product to arrive xx I know it’s early days but it’d mean a lot to me if you could post a quick customer testimonial of your delivery/product. It only takes a few seconds. Here’s the link to leave your testimonial: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ryp?ref_=cs_seller_bsm_review As a small family business, my husband and I (& two-year-old princess ) lookout for every single testimonial. Every new customer testimonial is cause for celebration and helps us grow! A hug, Nicole xoxo

Pretty sure messaging buyers like this is against amazon policy. Please don’t message again
…never heard back.
Anyway, just thought I would add my recent similar experiences!
I have been adding a flyer into our products and into FBA products which amazon have opened and looked at. I went through the prohibited seller activities and as far as I am aware as long as you stay within the guidlines it is ok to do. Here is a picture of what we use and the guidlines i followed
This is a recipe for disaster / suspension
The trouble is, people who’ve cheated for years and years and got away with it are making bank in a big way, and it also makes it more difficult for new sellers. Amazon is one big MESS. A total dictatorship. Most undemocratic marketplace on Earth.
I bought an ALDOM theragun a few weeks ago, it had over 5,000 reviews. When I got it it had a card saying leave a review, screenshot it blah blah and get a £25 dock for it. (it is actually quite good though)
isn’t there enough things amazon can deactivate you for ?
why even risk it ?
