Is it possible to contact the customer advising item back in stock

I have five units in stock. I got two orders within a few hours of each. 1st purchased 4 units leaving a balance of 1. I then got a second order for 5 units. Both showed as unshipped. I would have thought Amazon would have adjusted the stock level after the first sale. Due to the shortage of second-order, I had to cancel as no inventory. I’m due to get new stock in the next couple of days. Is it possible to contact the second customer to advise the item is back in stock?

Did you make any contact with the buyer before you cancelled ? If not, you may not be able to pull their details as its wiped from cancelled orders

Just to check too that your metrics can handle the cancellation ?

It’s odd - although i suppose glitches do happen, that excess units were able to be ordered

My advice if it happens again, and you know stock would be in within a couple of days, is to extend your handling time so that you could have still fulfilled both orders

Yes I only had 5 in stock. Not sure what happened as there were a few hours between orders. As you say might have been a glitch but worth keeping an eye on.
