Minusing the £3.30 auto return cost label from refund...when?
Hi All,
Just wanted to clarify if we are allowed to minus the £3.30 pre paid return label costs from refunds if certain reasons are selected from the buyer when returning the goods. i.e ‘ordered by mistake’ or ‘no longer needed’ ?
thanks.

Yes you can deduct the return postage costs and further deductions if the order is not returned in accordance with the returns policy such as used or the item value has diminished. Beware there are a few who select the wrong reason for return to obtain a free return label for example product description not accurate or item defective. When you get the alleged defective item back there is nothing wrong with the item.
We have noticed there are 97 returns because the buyer did not check the product dimensions before ordering and then complained about the deductions in the refund.
There are also known groups who try and trash a brand by keep ordering and returning a product.

Yes BUT there are also some categories where you cannot, clothing for example amongst others.
AND…only where the is the option to “charge” the return label.

I had one recently for a change of mind on a slim £4 book. I didn’t refund the £3.30, at first.
The buyer then complained that I had refunded too little so I gave in and refunded her the full amount to ward off a potential AZ.
The book sold again fairly quickly so I just about broke even on it (assuming the second buyer doesn’t want a refund too).
This auto-refund scheme is a mess, especially on low value items.
