Problem with Royal Mail labels
I’m fairly new to printing RM postage labels via Amazon. However, l’m satisfied that that “newcomer” factor isn’t the issue here, the issue is that Amazon really does do a poor job at generating RM postage labels.
Here is what we need:
- The choice of printing to any of the 4 slots in a 4-to-1 A4 page self adhesive label sheet
- At least print to top left corner, which thankfully Amazon does (allows page to be rotated, to fill the diagonally opposite corner too)
- Allow labels to be downloaded as PNG files so that they can be positioned on a self adhesive label sheet in bespoke ways
- Have a preset set of spatial dimensions (or even have several presets, with one automatically invoked preset) and / or guess the RM tariff desired just from the stated weight of your sale item. Currently Amazon requires the seller to type it all in, every time.
- All generated labels must have a unique filename e.g. “date_time_hashcode_amazon.pdf” rather than have them all named “buy-shipping.pdf”, because sellers may want to download and keep all of their labels for future reference in case of disputes, label cancellations etc.
- All customer (if not also vendor) names and addresses on the labels should be automatically transformed to BLOCK CAPS unless it’s actually the case that Amazon enforces correct address format (no 100% lower case addresses etc.), in which case no need to transform to ALL CAPS.
I’m sure there are apps, addons and thingummies that make this a doddle, but why can’t we just have it working and ready for bulk sales via Amazon itself? The suggestions above will make Amazon amenable to, you know … bulk sales … from the get-go, no additional software needed.

It’s been like it for years and I can’t see them changing it
Click and drop is an easier, free option

^^^^^ from the OP (i.e. l am not really investigating how else to do it beyond Amazon)

Putting the others aside, Amazon would never allow this. Their API anonymises the data on shipping labels produced through third part systems like Veeqo and Linworks.
My biggest issue is that it doesn’t resize the text in the address section if it us going to run over the line barriers.

My main gripe is the quality of the print is shocking. I can buy the same shipping through Etsy and they print crisp and beautiful. Same on Amazon and they’re fuzzy and don’t always scan first time because of it.
I do have a thermal label printer and it’s one of my favourite things as it’s so easy compared to A4 4 per page labels. Worth the investment and I do maybe 20 orders a week when it isn’t silly season (eg christmas)

I use Packing Partner. I really cant recommend it enough.
It will do everything you have asked for above and far more.
You can design your own sheets and put label wherever you want.
Quality of labels is improved.
It saves the labels in the app so can be reprinted at will.
Picking/Packing Lists
Invoices
You can create rules (or use script for better control) to buy labels based on weight, size, destination, market bought from, any enhanced shipping options (e.g. customer using Prime or premium shipping), etc
You can create a product list containing details of weight/sizes of products and international shipping codes
You can even use it to buy labels via the Amazon Shipping API - so in effect you are using Buy Shipping with all the benefits that gives (automatic 100% VTR, problems with late delivery removed, etc)

Oh and one other thing - on the recommendation of support from the people at Packing Partner I changed the driver for my Zebra printer from the manufacturers to another - and print quality was far superior.

Were you thinking of buying thermal printer maybe??? We used to have A4 sheets with 4 labels on each for printing address labels but honesty it is more expensive in long term as you need to buy a4 labels. With thermal printer and using Royal Mail account you would get free labels for your thermal printer. We managed to buy thermal printer for around 150 pounds last year
