Q? How is 'get it by' Delivery Date calculated

Selling only on Amazon UK, to only the UK, example product has following get it by date
delivery-01
maximum delivery time is 7 days to BFPO

handling time for this product is 2 days.

I can send tomorrow 2nd Class and it would likely get there Friday or Saturday of this week ie 1st/2nd October

Question… why does it say 9th - 12th October 11 days from now a full week after likely delivery.

How do I change this to be at least 7 days maximum?

TQIA :slightly_smiling_face:

amazon sometimes ‘pad’ the delivery dates based on several things including -

your ODR
your VTR
your OTDR and

if Royal Mail have told amazon that there are delays in certain depots

Assuming this is you I am actually seeing a longer delivery date

Have you got Shipping Setting Automation on or off. If you have it On I believe it can cause some strange delivery dates

most likely your RM depot in Bristol has reported staff shortages or delays

I’ve quickly switched it off as it extended delivery window by an extra day.

as far as I know, if your handling time is two days, the first ‘transit time’ day is the second day from the day of the order, and the transit time does not include Sundays but does include Saturdays.

e.g. order on Monday, Monday is handling day 1, Tuesday is handling day 2, Weds transit day 1, etc. As in it must be dispatched Weds at the latest.

if you mark it as dispatched a day early it may shorten the estimated delivery date (I don’t know for sure because our handling time is one day)

btw two things:

  1. you can safely set Northern Ireland to 2-3 days (we are in NI and we have 2-3 days to everywhere excepting Scottish Islands, Isle of Man, and Channel Islands) and we have a refund rate of under .5%. Northern Ireland is not really a remote area of the UK as far as Royal Mail is concerned and customers here typically spend more and spend more per order than rest of the UK so it might be worth your while depending on the sizes of your packets
  2. set England and Wales to 2-3 days too. You could even set Wales to 1-2 days if you are in SW England.
  3. consider setting your handling time to one day because you will hardly ever get a buy box with over one day handling time

One of my great frustrations is Amazon and our Premium Shipping Elibigibilities. We have the the option to advertise one day and two day delivery and the boost in sales is immense. However for 2 days parcels we are forced on to 24 Tracked but not for LBT. Tracked has the same service LBT and non LBT so why they do this idk. For one day delivery we can not use Tracked 24 for non LBT (if LBT it goes through fine) and instead forcred to BuyShipping for non tracked alternatives…
