Reselling - You are using UPCs, EANs, ISBNs, ASINs, or JAN codes that do not match the products you are trying to list

Hi All, I am new here and loosing the plot trying to list my items. I’ve purchased goods on sale for retail arbitrage model to start with but when I try to list it, I get this message ‘You are using UPCs, EANs, ISBNs, ASINs, or JAN codes that do not match the products you are trying to list. If you believe you have reached this message in error, please contact Seller Support.’
I thought it might be because I’m trying to put variantions on but the GTIN is the same for all, so I’ve purchased some new GTINs from GS1 but it still doesn’t work. I contacted seller support but it’s like we are talking different language, they asking proof of brand and manufacturers letters, legal agreements (???). I already explained twice that I have no idea what brand this is as it doesn’t say, I’m not interested in registering the brand as my own either, I just would like to know what the problem is and how to fix it… HELP

A couple of things. If you are doing RA then it is likely that those products already exist on Amazon so you shouldn’t need to create new listings. Also, although RA is not expressly forbidden on Amazon it is very risky and probably not worth the risk for new sellers. At any point Amazon can ask you for the things they’ve mentioned which you would have as part of a valid supply chain, but you won’t if you’re doing RA. You also can’t list those items as being new since you have bought from retail.

firstly retail arbitrage may be a problem but to answer your main question about the barcodes, they probably already are on amazon therefore you need to ‘add a product’ and find it in the catalogue and add your offer rather than list it again

edit - Demel beat me to it !

whoever told you retail arbitrage on amazon is a good idea is scamming you. Erase everything they “taught” you from your brain and start over.

You can sell it on ebay, but Amazon is a very different beast and you are definitely not ready. You’d be banned in 3 months tops with this level of preparedness, and the bans here are permanent with all funds frozen.

The bannable offenses are now growing so exponentially that even people with decades of experience are struggling to keep up with the changes, so you literally have no hope of remaining un-banned in your current state of being!

stick to ebay for a start, and study study study before you even think of doing anything with your account on here. No youtubers, and no “programs”. Use seller university and these forums, everything else is just click bait and get rich quick schemes. If they’re making money on your views or your subscriptions, then they’re lying to get you to participate.

The more awful and boring your research is, the more you’re doing it correctly. I can assure you that accurate research is not as entertaining. You can get yourself started with a good dose of import, VAT and selling fee calculations - THAT is what actual research should feel like. If it’s not painful then you’re doing it wrong
