Selling same product but in two different types of packaging
I am having a lot of difficulty loading up my product for sale on Amazon FBA.
We have only one product but we have two types of packaging:- Gift-box and Standard. Each has it’s own barcode and EAN number.
I have successfully registered on Amazon our Gift-box product (EAN number displayed on giftbox) but I can not add the standard packaged product (Different EAN number displayed on standard packaging).
When I try and add the standard packaged product it is rejected saying the EAN is invalid. I also read on Seller Central that EAN numbers beginning with 5 are unacceptable. All very confusing as I have successfully added the gift box on that does have an EAN number beginning with 5.
Can anyone shed any light please?
Many thanks for your help.
Regards
Peter

where did you get your barcode from? only GS1 ones are accepted on Amazon

Most European Article Numbers (EANs) begin with a 5 because that’s what the GS1 country codes for most of Europe start with. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_GS1_country_codes
You need to ensure the product information is fully registered with GS1 https://gepir.gs1.org/index.php/search-by-gtin
