Variations changed from boxes to dropdown
Hello,
I always had boxes on the variation, 2 days ago it seems like it got updated to a newer version in desktop view.
Previously all swatches were in a page very tiny but two days ago i noticed it was much larger and there was option to click for all variations, similar to mobile or app version which was very good.
Last evening i noticed the desktop version is now showing a dropdown list, not sure what would have changed. I raised an issue with seller support but response was unhelpful saying delete variations and recreate again.

It seems sporadic as to what type of variation selection you get. It does seem like it could be linked to the type of variation or the number of variations, but it could also be amazon performing an AB test of one type versus another to see what performs better.

My listings in Apparel switch between drop down and individual boxes with Size/Colour in to select the variations.
This has been going on for a number of months now. As @Osgood said I think it is Amazon doing some form of AB testing.
What I do notice is that when they have individual boxes to select Size/Colour it can take a long time for the page to load and for the customer to be able to select the correct size.
