VAT registration
Hey, I am wondering about invoicing customers. I shipped an order earlier and was just wondering what the process is for invoicing customers and any recommendations. I tried to setup for automatic invoicing from Amazon but they are trying to make me register for VAT when I am nowhere near the threshold. My stock is kept in the UK and I am a UK registered business and the sale was to the UK so don’t see why I a am being told to register for this service.
Is it easier for me to just do the invoicing myself in this respect or should I register for VAT and use Amazons service.

It’s your choice and it possibly depends what you sell, but be aware that if you do register for VAT you have a load more accounting to do.
You do not have to register for Amazon’s VCS
It is only mandatory to send an invoice/receipt to Business Customers (which is stated on the order if they are), not required for all orders.
If you’re not VAT registered then Amazon have just introduced an invoicing service or you can use a free invoice generator site, for eg. many of us use www.invoice-generator.com

There is a link in the announcement: New requirement to maintain Invoice Defect Rate below 5%
Sellers exempt from VAT registration in both the EU and the UK can declare their VAT exemption status and benefit from automated receipt generation.
