Copyright Infringement Claim Against My Listing
Dear Amazon Sellers,
I’m new on here I just went through a pretty eye-opening experience. Last night my listing was delisted because there was a claim against my listing. The reason given was “the text on the product detail page may infringe the rights owner’s copyright”.
This came as quite a shock to me as I was very careful to ensure my listing conformed to all the rules laid out by Amazon regarding copyright. I purposely wrote my own product copy and employed a company to take original product photography. However, my listing was still delisted - no questions asked. I looked at the claimant’s listing and their copy and it was full of broken English and grammatical errors. The only similarities were that we were selling a similar product.
I made an appeal and have just received notification that my listing was reinstated. For me as a new seller on Amazon, it is very concerning that someone can make such a baseless claim and have my listing delisted and cause significant disruption to my operations. What can we as sellers do to protect ourselves from such actions? Can some of you share your experiences in this area?
Thank you for reading and appreciate all of your replies.

Dear fellow Sellers,
Since my first post on this thread my listing received two more notices of copyright/IP infringement. Here is a summary of the notices I received:
- Copyrighted text infringement
- Parallel Import infringement
- Copyright of product or product packaging infringement
Each time I received a violation I was able to get the listing reinstated. However, after the third time I decided to just delete the listing and move on. I would rather have my account back to full health and not deal with the stress of trying to get my listing reinstated each time. Stressful is a gross understatement!
Prior to the listing being reported I was making some good sales. But I have come to the realisation that the claimant who reported my listing (a competitor, China based seller) knows exactly what they are doing and how to use the system to get my listing removed. It’s clear to me that even after a third success of getting my listing reinstated that the claimant will stop at nothing in trying to get my listing removed and stop me selling the product. It’s sad that I know I can’t really do anything to stop him/her. I could probably continue to get my listing reinstated but it’s just not worth it.
I’m thankful that I’ve learned very early in my journey not to put all my eggs into one basket when it comes to Amazon. After some investigation into who is behind the violation notices I am pretty certain that it’s a large china based organisation using various accounts under different registered brands and trademarks to create monopolies of as many categories and products as possible. I won’t go into too much detail otherwise this post will be neverending.
The past seven days have seemed like an eternity. I’m just glad to feel sane again
