Product Search - Disadvantaging Brands.... Anyone else?
It is my understanding that Amazon require brands to put their brand names at the start of each product title?
Although you would expect this to benefit brands, especially given the value paid to the Amazon Brand Registry, we are seeing a very negative affect on generic product searches, is anyone else seeing this?
Whereas companies, behind the influx of 'low-budget' unbranded goods, are able to 'call a spade a spade'... instead of calling it a Hutchinson Elite Spade.... the search-bots seem to be loving the direct generic product name in search and branded items are so far down the listings?
I appreciate this brings an obvious benefit to Amazon.... brands have to artificially elevate themselves up the rankings by paying for advertising but if the branded companies no longer can make a margin it hurts the platform overall as they exit.
Can Amazon not look at re-calibrate search to look at the words immediately after the brand in the title, especially as Keywords can no longer repeat any words that are in the title?
Be great to get people's advice on this?
