Do I need to register for sole proprietorship in order to sell on Amazon Europe?

Dear Madam/Sir,

Please can you answer my questions?

Do I need to register for sole proprietorship in Germany in order to sell on Amazon.de?

I’m automatically registered for sole proprietorship when I create a business account with Amazon Europe since now I can sell products without any problem?

When I have to pay taxes in Germany?
Do I need to register for sole proprietorship in order to be able to pay taxes in Germany?

Best regards,

I guess you live in Germany?

What you do is your decision. You can register as a limited company, a partnership, sole proprietor, whatever you think suits your business, if that is what you are, a business.

If you are buying goods to sell, in other words, not selling your own things you don’t need any more, you are a business.

If you hold stock in Germany and ship from there to EU countries, you don’t need to register for VAT in EU countries but watch how much you are selling because if you reach the threshold in any country, you will need to register for VAT there.

If you use FBA and have your stock in various EU countries, you need to register for VAT from day 1 BEFORE you make your first sale.

Sole proprietorship is the minimum I would suggest for you to be legal and pay your taxes in Germany.

For specific questions relating to Germany, you’re probably better off asking in the Germany forum, not the UK one.

You are not automatically registered as sole proprietor with Amazon, this is something you have told them you are. Whether you have actually registered with your country’s taxman, only you know.
