FBA ridiculous product's measurements
Hi all!
Long short.
I ship one of my products (it’s a soft bag if that is important) to FBA rolled up, packed and sealed neatly to fit standard size.
Once I notice the FBA charges are way higher for the fulfillment I open a case to find out their WH measurements. Get those, which are outstandingly higher than my packed (and even unpacked) product.
I send them pictures of my packed product with measurements to confirm the actual size.
They reply back.
Here is when it gets weird.
In the reply they send me pictures of UNPACKED AND UNFOLDED product measured.
Am I missing something? Doesn’t it say in their policy something like “how you ship the product to us is how we store it and ship to customers”.
ATM this doesn’t make any sense and gets me frustrated, however I am waiting for their reply …

Hi we have sell some bags as well but what we have found we need to prep and Re label them our end so we make sure they are the right size we have them folded, bagged and labelled before sending in as if not they are measured open and they are something like 60*40 open

Hi
I will be interested to see how your issue is resulted. I also have a product measured differently at the fulfilment centre, although in my case I accept some responsibility as I did not secure it when folded in half and shipped. I am still waiting on an answer to my case
Was it the Coventry FC, by any chance?

Was the barcode/FNSKU on the outside of the bag? I’ve no knowledge on this but just wondering if it was on a tag inside if maybe they had to open the outer wrapper to get to it?

The issue affects us too - we sell a bike hook which folds flat, around 10cm x 4cm and 2.5cm deep.
The measurements became 10cm x 4cm x 10cm - my guess is that it has been returned, in an open and unfolded state.
In the help area, there is an option to request a re-assessment. This requires units to be present in an FC.
If it’s found to be incorrect, they will credit the overcharges.

I usede to use FBA but not any more. One of the products I sold was vinyl records & I once confronted them as to why I was charged different amounts for the same item, the record titles were different but were all the same size & there was a vast difference in some of the dimensions shown on the items in storage. I even had cases where some of the 7" vinyl singles were showing larger dimensions than some of the 12" LPs. They even told me the dimensions were based on the products being packed ready for shipment rather than just the product itself, & we all know what Amazon are like when it comes to packaging.

Perhaps the item was returned by a customer to FBA unfolded. If it that unit was re-measured that could explain the issue.

I had a similar issue. I have items with 1 cm depth and weighing around 25-30 grams. I sent 8 variety to FBA differing by color and model. Almost all was measured differently. One item was weighted 360 gram instead of 30, one was measured as 3.5 cm thick. I opened a case, they changed most of the measures, 360 gram was reversed to 30 gram but one stayed as 3.5 cm thick attrackting almost twice FBA fees. I recalled that product back to me for repackaging and indeed all items were 1cm thick.

We have had the same issue. Our product was phone cables (coiled for packing) like you sent in a bag, we requested a remeasure and they sent us the image of the cubiscan measurement which clearly stated the product was 1.9cm in height and they still agued it to be over 4 cm in height!! We are now moving all our packaging to boxes so they can not do this anymore.

it might be due to the prep guidance when you create on the inbound FBA page.
If you select clothing and then put Amazon as ther prepper they will do that

We have had a very similar issue, we sell used vinyl. Each item is prepped and labeled as per the prepping policy for the items. Over the last couple of years we noticed that are fees was very high apon investigation we found the items was then getting repackaged and remeasured at somepoint.
We have paid 1000’s to amazon in incorrect fees because of the issue, We have managed to get a couple of the VP1 boxes removed but are struggling to get the rest removed.
What Amazon dont understand about the issue of incorrect measurements / repackaging of the items is the cubic ft they change. Below is an example of the change
Amazon repackaged dimensions cubic ft - 0.1394
seller prepped dimensions cubic ft - 0.00105
they dimensions are more than 10 times the product actual size.
9 months later we still have 100’s of cases trying to resolve the issue and are getting no where, now we have had our cubic ft reduced we are gonna miss out on chrstmas sell’s because of it.
