Trying to close Account and not having a Bank Account verified

Hello Forum members,

I am in a circular bind on Amazon, I have taken the decision to close my account as I am unable to verify my bank account for deposits/disbursements. I am going in a circle as my proof of address (latest Bank statement (Feb 6 2025) is not being accepted and Amazon want me to register as a Sole Trader. I am not a soletrader, I am an individual seller. I keep getting automated messages and cannot seem to get a resolution. I don't want to register as a Sole Trader as the only reason given is that I had listed a few "new " items, my yearly turnover is below the soletrader threshold as I am not selling for profit. Just to recoup a percentage of the original costs.

Can anyone offer any advice or help as to how to sort this out? Should I go to the small claims court. For context I am waiting on ca. £430 and I am in the UK

If you list items as 'NEW' then Amazon assume that you are buying goods to sell on for profit, and that makes you required to register as a sole-trader, and with HMRC as such.

The individual seller account is ONLY for selling off your own, personal second-hand items eg. books, CDs,DVDs etc, and you cannot sell NEW items.

The other thing is, you will not be able to close your account until it has been fully verified and is active - you cannot close a deactivated account.

if you are selling new items then you are a sole trader and Amazon are correctly identifying you as such. This is a legal requirement as is proving your identify. I don’t know why Amazon haven’t accepted your bank statement (unless it’s a Wise account) but on both these points you have not satisfied Amazons legal obligations afraid.

You cannot close this account unless you get verified- and neither can Amazon.

@Seller_ZVAz3d5lZuGid and @Seller_k2X0L9mVRT0pWthank you for your responses, I did list some items that were unopened bought at retail prices. I have suspended my inventory now. I will start the process of setting up as a sole-trader. get the disbursement and close the company. I don't think Amazon wants individuals using the platform anyway.
