Stranded Inventory Due to “Inventory Error”

Since 9/25 despite having over 500 units, my entire inventory was marked as “stranded” due to an “inventory error.” I have contacted Amazon support via email and phone and I keep getting told it is due to a system error and they are looking into it. Problem is… it has been 10 full days now and I have lost my product ranking and still can’t sell anything since my listing is marked unavailable due to this error. No resolution or timeline has been provided and I am at a loss of what to do. I am told this is affecting about 1,000- customers. Has anyone had any luck? I am losing money by the second due to Amazon’s incompetence!

We are having the same issue here, and apparently so are a lot of sellers. One seller said he had to remove the inventory and send it back which I really hope is not the case, hopefully someone can fix this issue for us. I don't think its fair that we need to pay to remove and send back inventory due to an error on Amazons side.

Hi @Seller_I8okfQqm0ssTn,

Thank you so much for reaching out about this! When you have a moment, can you please send me your Seller Support case IDs for this? I'd be happy to take a further look into those correspondences to see how I can best help here.

Thanks again,

Jameson

Same issue here and deleting and relisting has fixed the issue. In my case, when I delete the item (most of mine are qty of one) the listing will remain in the "stranded inventory" page as "deleted" so it doesn't just disappear. Once the reason changes from "inventory error" to "deleted" I have an option to relist in the pull down menu on the right.

Once I relist by putting the information back in the form and save, I get a second page where I can select "list as FBA." So far this has worked to remove the sku from "stranded" and I can confirm that I have had sales on those newly active sku. I have not had any situations where I had to have an item returned just to send it back in and I have followed this process on nearly 400 sku so far.

Just a disclaimer, this is what has worked for me. Hopefully this helps you in your situation as well. It is extremely frustrating that SS will tell you to just "delete and relist" but not actually tell you how to do that. I know it is nerve wracking to hit that "delete" button on your listing when they already have your product.

There are lots of tutorials online about this but you will need to delete the listing but make sure you record the seller sku first. Then wait a solid chunk of time - they say 24 hours but i don't think it is required to be that long. Then re-add the item with the same upc, obviously, but critically important is put the same seller sku in the applicable field.

then wait another chunk of hours and the stranded inventory should unstrand itself.

I am sorry about your issue.

We have products stranded with Amazon since last April. It took me 4 months and a lot of headaches just to understand what was going on since there was absolutely no mistake on our side and nobody from Amazon could explain what was the cause for my products to be stranded.

In August, finally, they said there was an accident in the FC where the products were stored and they could do anything until the issue was fixed. Until now, October, 6 months later, we are here waiting, without any refund, reimbursement, compensation, or perspective on when the issue will be fixed.

Amazon does what Amazon wants and we sellers have to shut up and accept.

Could I call this type of relationship abusive?

It's their inventory now as you gave the items to them. No way around it actually. Even if you contest, they will keep saying they are all accounted for but it's the opposite. I am a small seller so I literally know how many items I send or I have. I have been burned several times with FBA. Even my Nature Diabetes Pack that I've sent just disappeared over the summer, all 33 packs of them and that's worth about $1000 and they keep going around the bush as to where it went. This was the last straw that broke the camel's back and since then, I promised to stop sending items to FBA. My FBA losses have to stop somehow.

I have the same problem with 2 listings, I am bumping my head against the wall aka "Seller Partner Support", the only thing they offer to me to do is to create a removal order and create new listings, how clever it is !!!

Where in the world did they find such sharp people to work for them ?
