Remove "No longer Needed" return Option

It’s way past time for Amazon to remove the “No longer Needed” option for buyers in the return menu. This is one of the most abused and ridiculous reasons for a return online. They read the book and return it in a month, making it seem like we are lending libraries. I bet people wear clothes and return them because the event is over, they are no longer needed and so on.

Also as a FBM merchant and auto-authorized returns, we are on the hook for shipping charges in both directions. We can only recoup a measly 10%, that is something, but, we are going to have to downgrade items anyway as they are used upon return. If the “no longer needed” policy were removed, we wouldn’t have to be bothered with these dishonest folks. I know the A to Z guarantee, return for anything is valid, but this does not apply to using an item for a couple of weeks and returning it. They could have a changed mind option, something that doesn’t make it seem like an item can be used and then returned when no longer needed!!!

You appear to have been selling a long time. You really should read the return process. For buyer faulted return reasons, like no longer needed, the cost of the return label is deducted from the refund.

If the product is not returned in the same condition, you can deduct up to a 50% restocking fee. If the return received a RFS (Refund on First Scan), then you need to open a SafeT claim to recover the restocking fee.

Bad sellers forced Amazon to punish all of us.

Maybe it is just us but for that return we get as much as 50% restocking, outward shipping refunded, and return shipping refunded. We only sell new, sealed items, and if open we get the 50% which is what Amazon return policy states. We also send the buyer a copy of the policy as soon as the return comes in, just in case they have not read it thoroughly and understand what they are doing. 50% of the returns simply never come back.:train2:

That return reason is totally consistent with mass merchant policies. When one buys on Amazon, one is buying from a mass merchant.

Nothing is going to be changed unless it makes Amazon more like the customer service desk at Walmart.

Ok, folks it just happened again, “no longer needed” customers get a pre-paid label, it’s auto-autorized and I have no way to change the settings. They used the label, it was scanned, and they were given a full refund of the book and shipping. I had/have no way to change my settings or control anything here. Also, I do not even have the book yet, but they got a full refund and I was charged the return shipping.

This is not right, I don’t care about the return/refund, but come on, Amazon, and the last time I tried to get them to look at how they were doing this and not charge me shipping, I wrote 3 times and was ignored and they were the buyer!!! Yes, I plan to report this and ask why my settings are so strictly enforced, I am a long-time seller with good performance metrics.
