Insane Sales Drop in 2024

2024 has been a rough one, we were a seven figure brand last year and are down a solid 50% this year... have kept our products in stock, launched some new products and can't seem to figure out what the deal is. It's me and my sister who run the business and we are now having to consider getting other jobs.

Has anybody else seen a huge drop in sales this year? We are in panic mode.

I concur that there is a significant issue with sales performance on Amazon. I have witnessed a sharp and unprecedented decline in our sales, which have dropped to around 40% of the usual volume. Business was thriving, but the downturn has been swift and unexpected.

I have also heard concerns that larger companies, particularly from China, are dominating the marketplace, and that Amazon’s platform has become more challenging due to increasing restrictions and algorithms—often driven by bots—that determine product visibility and success. It is clear that Amazon is no longer as reliable as it once was, and it would be unwise to depend solely on it as the primary source of income.

I wish everyone continued success and resilience in their business endeavors.

We are down in our amazon sales this year by 50% as well, with an increase on our company website sales- so some of these other replies regarding maybe people don't like our product or we aren't competitive anymore don't really apply. People like our product.

We were willing to pay all the fees and deal with crazy return rates from Amazon because the sales were good. But- that is over. Amazon is so busy promoting every other product when people search for our product it is hard to comprehend how they think we are going to stay in business. And the fees keep increasing.

It is strangely reassuring to find out others are being clobbered as well, even as I hate that it is happening. For us it also coincides with meta advertising completely losing all relevance, so it is a hard one-two punch, requiring a complete shift in approach to marketing and sales. All I can say is you are not alone, and keep re-positioning. Keep the faith!

selling on Amazon has been a big waste of time for me; aside from amazon completely mishandling my shipments, lost, stolen inventory, etc. extremely bad service, and I thought comcast was bad, these guys win the gold medal in sh....ty service. This is far the worst piece of ga...ge corporation I have ever dealt with, and I'm 48, I've seen the worst. When I lived in Mexico City in the 80;s and 90;s when corruption was at the highest levels, the Mexico City government offices provided better service and that's saying a lot. I cannot emphasize what a negative fruitless experience has been dealing with this parasite. I am praying everyday of my life, along with all the FTC complaints I've had to file on this trash bag of a company that they are broken up and that they go under. That day will come, althought they will never reimburse me for all the inventory they've lost, insane high level of fraudulent returns, bad seller support, terrible CRM platform, outdated technology, worst seller application on the planet and on and on. I wish them nothing but terrible things. I am just calling it quits after less than 1 year on this huge waste of time of a company, everybody hates Amazon; and I know why now. I've been researching what the legislative bodies think of Amazon, and everyone agrees, they must go. Any moderator that tells you otherwise, is just trying to save the bread crumbs that Amazon leaves for them, like hungry animals looking for survival. This company is a big fat fraudulent lie.

My sales are off nearly 100% and page hits are nonexistent. Amazon tells me that I should enroll in Fulfillment By Amazon. I will take my business elsewhere instead.

Another reason is Amazon makes all products more expensive because they charge exorbitant fee, and we have to include shipping and return costs.

I buy elsewhere for this reason now.

Amazon flooded the site with cheap junk and buyers want quality -amazon looks like Aliexpress.

I know because I see the shift in buying habits from my other platforms and they have gained and equaled Amazon without paying the exorbitant ad fees and other.

The biggest issue is Amazon changed search from FEATURED FROM RELEVANT. Amazon is not showing your products as before unless you get a savvy customer who knows how to work search,

Rough for us as well but part of that is Amazon allowing fraud and policy violations in their own jewelry space. But hey whats allowing listings that the FTC calls "unfair and deceptive "

Gold items that arent really gold- even confirmed by the sellers selling the products

Moisanite lab created diamonds- this according to the FTC is unfair and deceptive, never mind there is no such thing, a moissanite is not a lab created diamond, any more than a crystl or CZ is.

Many USA created business niches are quickly taken over by Chinese copycats - not sure this is your issue. Amazon's supports and blesses overseas companies over local FBM's because Amazon makes more $$ from Chinese knockoffs - they need to store their cheap copies here so they can ship quickly and don't have to come all the way from overseas. Amazon makes waaaay more money from them than local USA businesses so the algo buries USA products, regardless of quality differences and feedback.

Your reasons may be different, but that is what happens to many

Study. Learn. Adapt!

You can blame yourself or you can blame Amazon, the Competition or the Economy (ACE). People tend to blame ACE when sales go down, and blame themselves when sales go up. But it's up to you to ignore your ego and focus on logic. The issues are both you and ACE. You need to adapt to ACE! You can't just create listings, have good sales, do nothing and expect sales to grow grow grow. Research your impression count on Amazon and your conversion rates over the years. Checkout your competition. Study market data and determine if consumers are still consuming in your market. You need to diagnose the decrease in sales if you're going to cure your bank account.

Been selling since 2016. Experienced some ups and downs over the years, but last year going into December, I was down big time. I did everything I could think of to increase sales without spending money. I LEARNED A LOT. Saved my season by adapting.

My ailment: Low sales

My diagnosis: Other sellers were outperforming me due to Ads

My treatment: Study advertising as much as possible and do my best to move specific inventory to decrease specific inventory levels, while increasing sales on overall inventory to increase overall sales. Analyze and adapt every day throughout the day. Do my best.

I have had to maintain this treatment but the end result is im even healthier than i was before my ailment and trending upward.

GOOD LUCK to YOU @Seller_ypggk3pkKvAtu

@Seller_TIhCj7QGS3Rro Most of our products are commercial-grade and much higher quality than the lower-end options offered by some international sellers. It seems U.S. sellers now need to focus more on offering services rather than just physical products to stay competitive. This issue goes beyond just this platform.

Our plan? Either start offering services (intangible products) or jump through all the hoops of that long and complicated patent process.

There are many reasons that sales have declined.

1. Election Year

2. Average Income

3. Inflation

4. Ukraine (world events etc.)

5. Border problems (national issues etc.)

Take your pick. I am about the same as last year thankfully, but, I do see a decline in the amount of sales as far as, more 1 item than 2 or 3 an order.

Right now people have money for gas food etc. If you are selling a luxury item(s) that could be the case.

You can be the King of Frivolous Items but a bad economy will tank your sales for certain.

Yup slowest year for us as well. Selling since 2015. Had to slightly increase pricing as well to keep up with the non stop USPS rates increase 2x a year. Does it end? I don't know. Would be nice if the Amazon referral fees were a little less for small time sellers doing less than $X per year.
