Customers providing wrong addresses / phone numbers resulting in huge delivery costs
Hi!
What do I do when the customers provide wrong shipping address?
I ship with UPS and a few times it has already happened that the customer has provided a wrong address and/or phone details, as a result UPS couldn’t deliver the parcel and it was returned back to me. Customer now wants me to ship their order again to another address (which will result in 3 times delivery cost for me and will cost more than their order!).
How do I protect myself in these cases? Can I add customised message to the confirmation of their order asking to check the delivery address and contact UPS directly with tracking number if they want to re-direct the parcel before it’s gone back?

advise the customer you are unable to ship to an alternate address. Get them to cancel and reorder to the correct address.

You should ONLY ship to the address that is on the order from Amazon and not an alternative address given by customer, otherwise you have no come-back whatsoever.
As Catie-Lou says, they need to re-order making sure the correct delivery address is supplied on Amazon

The reordering will not help you on the postage front, since you have to refund in full for the original order once that is returned to you, but it will protect you from the customer being able to claim non delivery on the newly posted item because you used a different address to the one on the order.
Get the buyer to reorder with the correct address and only send to that new address.
