DE Account Has Been Suspended/Deactivated - German VAT Identification Number
Hi Amazon,
Last Friday, our Amazon DE account was deactivated because the information linked to our VAT number no longer matched for the following reason:
Our VAT registration number was rejected for one or more of the following reasons:
1. The 'legal name' on your Seller Central account does not match the information stated in the German Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt).
2. The VAT registration number address on your Seller Central account does not match the information stated in the German Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt).
After checking both pieces of information, we concluded that all the details were correct and the VIES registry also confirmed that our VAT number is indeed valid. It has now been three days, and our account remains deactivated.
Does anyone know what actions we can or should take?

Hi @RAAMDECORATIECOM,
I'm Maxie, from Amazon.
I'm sorry to read about the issues with the deactivation of your account.
From what you wrote, it seems like your account was deactivated due to issues with your VAT number.
This is usually due to two possible reasons:
- If there is a problem with the number itself, it will appear as rejected under your tax information in Seller Central. (Then you'll have to contact the tax office to resolve this).
- If the number appears confirmed, the problem may be due to a discrepancy in your information.
Important to know when it comes to tax settings: Even if the status of your tax number is “confirmed”, this only means that the number exists in the european database, unfortunately it does not mean that the data in Seller Central matches the data in the Federal Central Tax Office. You canverify this as follows:
- Go to “Tax Settings” via Settings (top right) and click the “Add Sales Tax Identification Numbers” button at the top.
- Click the “Edit” button next to the associated VAT ID. In the window that opens, select the correct address or enter it again. Only the address should go here, i.e. street, house number, zip code, city, but NOT the name. This is taken from the “identity data” (under “Seller Account Information” at the top right) for reconciliation.
As further tips at the address:
- No repetitions should appear, e.g. enter the city or street twice.
-Please only specify the federal state if it is also on the VAT ID no.
-Certificate is noted by the Office.
Another way to check if there is a mismatch in your information, is through your identity information in the account. You can find this under Settings > Seller Account Information > Business Information.
If you see here that your business name is not the same as the data registered with the tax office, please click Edit and correct it.
Once you've updated your address and/or name, send a screenshot with the update to de-vat-number-appeals-eu@amazon.com, preferably with an official letter from the tax authority, where they can also see your data.
Even if you're 100% sure it's a perfect match, please send a screenshot of the settings along with the official document to de-vat-number-appeals-eu@amazon.com
I hope this information makes our process a bit more clear.
Please keep us up to date with news about your case.
All the best!

Hello!
I had the same experience and I fixed it.
You may check whether your company's legal name and adreess , as are exactly filled in at your business information section at seller central, are correct.
Afterwrads, you may send an email to your local tax agent in Germany and tell him/her to inform you how the German Tax Authorities have filled in the above data ( name/ adress ) when they provide you with your DE vat Identification number ( registration process).
Compare them and you will find the difference ( could be any such as commas, capital letters instead of small ones etc..
You have to proceed with the necessary corrections.
Ask your tax agent to do so , in case you have to apply to the German Tax Authorities for correction.
My case was that I had to correct the data , as there were filled in by the German Tax Authorities
