Read onlyLast week I have refunded a customer, after he complained that he did not receive his book (I wrote about this in a previous post)_.
Today the customer has written that he has received his book and would like to pay me.
Can he do it with Amazon? Or sending a check?
Thank you for your kind advise.
Guy
Amazon would say that he should contact them to re charge his card- in reality even if they did you’ld be unlikely to receive it!
You could ask him to re/ buy the book on the understanding and agreement that you won’t send anything out- if you can find a way to get round VTR of course.
As far as I know the only way he can do it via Amazon is by him contacting Customer Services and asking them to retro-charge his card. The problem with this is, as has been reported MANY times before on the forum, is that CS say they will do it, but then actually don't and tell the customer to accept it as a 'goodwill gesture' - which means you are still out of pocket. They could send a cheque, BUT am not sure how you can give the customer your address as they will see it as trying to get payment outwith Amazon. It might work if you still have the customer's address and can send them a letter with your address in it and they then send a cheque - but it might be risky ?!
as above thd only correct mechanism is that they contact Amazon and ask for their card to be recharged.
Unfortunately customer support don’t seem to be aware of said policy and just tell the customer not to worry about it. After all entering that long card number takes precious seconds when they could be completing another ticket.
You could ask him to send you the cheque as you will not get your payment any other way. If you are in messages you can give them your address we do all the time but for returns if we need to fix something, we have never had a problem giving out our address, I think an email address gets blocked out, which is a pain. Hope you get sorted. Nice customer wish they were all like that, thats if you do get the cheque lol. Good luck!
Couldn't you send customer your bank sort code and account number so he could just transfer the money direct?
Not sure if that would pass any messaging censorship but could be worth a go.
Re-list the book, or link to another book.
Ask him to buy that, choose SELF DELIVERY.
It will cost you the Amazon fee, but you will have some money.
As others have said if you ask him to contact Amazon CS, they will give him the item as goodwill.
Giving him any other method of payment is against Amazon rules.
If you ask, then he gives you his phone number, with authority to phone him, you may do so to run through anything with him.
Do you have the facility to take payments over the phone and is his phone number on the order (may be tricky now as when you refunded it amazon may have deleted the information helpful souls) If you can get it and message him that you will call and give him a time so he/she is allright about taking a call. You can do it that way.
This old one again, of course Amazon has no way of doing this, the only thing you can do is get them to buy it again and don't send it, or if out of stock buy something of the same value, there absolutely should be a re-billing option for refunds.
