Customer has returned the item worn and ripped!

Continuing the discussion from Customer has returned the item with a different serial number:

I received this swim-short after 29 days worn and ripped! The buyer returned the item without even requesting a return from Amazon. The Buyer message says “Sent them by recorded delivery were is my refund”
What can I do? No help from Amazon and we don’t have any choice, except refund to the buyer… this is ridiculous.

TBH that damage looks like poor stitching rather than a tear in the material, so IMO the buyer has every right to return these as faulty…

As I already advised you in the other thread, you can contact the customer and advise him to send you a pre-paid return label so they can get their damaged item back, as you are unable to refund them.

The other option would be refunding minus the cost of loss of value.

It depends, if the buyer is claiming faulty (stitching has split) you need to decide from the return if it’s a valid complaint and refund in full including return postage, or if you view the ripped stitching was the rusult of buyers actions, then either return with a letter, or inform the buyer as they have been returned damaged and returned in a different condition as sent, you are unable to issue a full, or any refund and if they wish them returned to send a prepaid return label.

Then wait for the A-Z to arrive.

From your photo, it looks like the stitching has split, if so the defect may have been present when sold and it’s a faulty return?

Yup, I’ve got to agree with the others, the location of the split and also the way the fibres have frayed it does look like a poor stitching issue with that particular item.
Admittedly the proper procedure should of been that the buyer opened a return request but I think they are within the rights to return that item.

I am getting a lot of returns, that Amazon have authorised, when the item is out of policy. These are electrical items ie irons, vacuum etc. In most of these cases the products were purchased 4-6 months ago. There were sold SFP so where do I stand in relation to refunds?

The seam as the others have said does not look like enough over-lap material, especially as XXL size person will pull no matter what they do, so needs better seams.

However, if no others have been returned, I think worth asking the maker and I’d refund the Buyer, you could say broken by them, but I think you will get an A-Z Claim and bad feedback.

50% partial refund if you wish can sometimes defend an A-Z Claim.

As under 30 days, even without a RMA request, it is hard to defend unless you go down that the Buyer broke them and they were made well enough

you’d surely expect the tear to be at the back not the front,:sweat_smile:

It’s simple you cannot accept returns which are not in resale able condition. I am surprised to see posts like these from business sellers.
