Do not have a passport or ID card
Amazon are asking me to submit a current passport or ID card, yet I do not have any.
My passport has run out last year, which I had used for the original verification with amazon, so they have it on file.
I am German, living in the UK. As such I am not required to have any residence permit and there is no ID card as such in the UK.
I have contacted the verification team 5-6 times, explaining all this, but all I receive is automatic replies that keep asking for my passport or ID. I even marked the last email for the attention of a senior manager - same thing.
Any idea how to contact amazon to speak to a real person?
There does not seem to be any chat or telephone number anywhere…

You can email Seller Verification directly explaining the situation seller-verification-enquiry@amazon.co.uk It would be an easier option to renew your passport and submit it.

Speaking to someone won’t help - you need to submit current ID. They may accept a current driving license instead - you must have that surely?

I have this problem. I don’t have a passport or driving licence. Neither of which is a mandatory document, I might add. Does this mean I’d have to splash out on a passport or learn how to drive just to get verification? Frustrating.

No, I have been through verification. I’m being asked to provide it again for some reason. The first time was bad enough as I don’t have a passport or driving licence, nor do I have utility bills in my name, so I’m not looking forward to going through the whole experience again.

How did you get through verification last time without the relevant ID?

You can get a provisional driving licence for £34
It costs £34 to apply online. You can pay by MasterCard, Visa, Electron, Maestro or Delta debit or credit card.
You’ll need to provide:
an identity document unless you have a valid UK biometric passport
addresses where you’ve lived over the last 3 years
your National Insurance number if you know it

Do you not plan to go back to Germany in the near future? I’d just get a new passport and be done with it.

Why shouldn’t you want to have an up to date and valid travel document, which is also proof of ID and substantiates your ID?
It’s the kind of thing I’d certainly keep up to date along with a driving license!
