GTIN Requirement for Selling a Book?
ID 16336286721
I recently submitted a ticket for ISBN verification of a brand-new book I'd like to list. However, I was asked to provide a GTIN. As the sole seller, but not the publisher, I'm unclear why a GTIN is required.
Can you help me understand:
1. Why GTIN is necessary for this book listing?
2. How it differs from the existing ISBN?
3. What are the implications for non-publisher sellers like myself?
Thank you for clarifying this requirement.
Note: I already submitted the invoice and LOA from the publisher and images of the book showing the ISBN.

I see that Selling Partner Support is actively reviewing CASE ID 16336286721 right now regarding the ISBN/GTIN confusion occurring. I would recommend continuing to follow up and monitor CASE ID 16336286721 until it closes out.
I also wanted to share some additional reference information help pages in case you wanted to learn more about the Product ID (GTIN) requirements for Books and the Books ISBN Requirements – FAQs help page.
Lastly, you may be interested in looking into Author Central to see if that is a way that you would like to have your book listed on Amazon.
