Brand authorization letter?

Presently we’re sourcing a Genuine product/ brand from an authorized wholesaler, so they (the authorized distributor) can issue us a brand authorization letter or it’s still has to come from the manufacturer/ brand owner itself?

A Letter of Authorisation can be from either the manufacturer or the authorised distributor. However, in the case of the latter, the distributor will have been given certain permissions by the manufacturer and you just need to check that these are applicable to the brand you wish to sell. For example (and we use this one here a lot); Yankee Candles authorises it’s distributor to sell candles to UK businesses but these must specifically be bricks and mortar types. They expressly forbid online selling on Amazon.

You therefore need to start with the distributor first to check they have permission to sell to you with the authority for you to then sell on Amazon. Failing that, you go directly to the manufacturer.

I’m going to work on it as I prefer to be safe rather than sorry, however I’ve checked the Chinese brands I’m selling (not that famous/ big like Nike, Adidas, etc.) and found that they aren’t a registered trademark in the UK.
