Approval for gated category with no wholesalers?
I am a little confused here. I am familiar with straightforward ungating and the process sellers have to go through, have been ungated in a couple of categories. I have been trying to get ungated with a particular brand and they have put me through the usual rigmarole of:
You are requesting approval to sell xxxxxxxx brand items.
Submit required documents
Select one of the document types below:
At least 1 purchase invoice for products from a manufacturer or distributor
1 letter from xxxxxxxxx authorising you to sell their products
OK. Straightforward so far. However, as far as I can tell, they don’t have any distributors. I called them up and they told me that they only sell directly off their website’s shop, don’t use distributors and I assume they won’t give me authorisation to sell their products as they sell them on Amazon too. What confuses me is that they are a relatively big brand and are sold in some high street shops too.
How do I get around this? Would really appreciate some help!

You can’t get around it. You have to follow Amazon’s process.
You either get approval from the manufacturer, of if as you say they want to restrict Amazon sales to their own listing then you’ll have to sell elsewhere.

It sounds like they don’t want anyone else selling on Amazon so you aren’t going to get approval. Move on and sell something else.

You haven’t even fully recovered from the difficult suspension after being reinstated less than a month ago and you are already trying your luck by planning to list restricted items without being authorised to sell them?

If I were you, I would not touch anything for at least a few next months and monitor the current inventory and account health instead.
Right now, a single complaint could get you suspended again and appealing will be impossible, since you already used the last option, which can be only used once - deleted your entire inventory and stated that from now on you will be sourcing everything directly from the manufacturers.
