Request for invoice from customer
I am not sure how to respond to a request from a customer for an invoice. Does Amazon have to do this or does the seller company?
If it is the seller company, then we do not get the full amount that the buyer paid so what should be on the invoice?
Sorry, I am a bit confused here.

If a customer asks for an invoice, you should send them one. If you don’t have a format, find one on the internet. If you are vat registered, it should be a vat invoice, if you aren’t, just a plain invoice.
Amazon do provide an invoicing solution if you sign up to the vat calculation service but I guess you would know if you signed up to it.

generally I find they are after a VAT invoice, I just explain that I’m not VAT registered & can’t produce anything different to the invoice they receive from Amazon. As we don’t receive the amount they pay for the goods I won’t produce an invoice separately.

You do get the full amount (in effect) so your invoice, VAT or otherwise, should show the full amount they paid
I think you are refering to the fees that Amazon withhold. That would be a separate line in your accounts.
So you customer pays £10, you create an invoice for £10. Amazon charges you £2, so you pay Amazon £2 out of the £10 you got from the customer. However, Amazon make it 'easier" by taking their fees before passing the money on to you, BUT from an accounting point of view you still received £10 from the customer

Just to add, if you are VAT registered then you are legally required to provide a VAT invoice to buyers on request, which should represent the full amount they paid via Amazon.
If you are not VAT registered, then you can’t provide a VAT invoice.
