Account Suspended Due to Legal Identity
Hi there, 2 weeks ago my account was suspended, the email said I hadn’t submitted my legal entity/identity (I’d had no previous emails) I went into all my settings and all in order, I’ve been faffing around with various things since but still not got to the bottom of it. I’m a sole trader, not ltd, and Customer Support (different team) said I need a passport in my business name??? They had my personal passport from a few years ago, i’ve given them my NI no and personal tax details. the account is showing as sole trader, I’m now stuck for ideas. Can anyone help please? Is there a way to communicate with this team except for them giving the same copy and paste message that I’ve already followed (and obviously doing something wrong that I’m not aware of). Just to complicate it, I’ve seen others be suspended for months so yesterday I downgraded to individual so I’m not paying for a monthly subscription I’m not using and messaged them to say I’ll change back as soon as my account has been reinstated. Luckily I don’t have much money stuck in Amazon but I’m cross they told me to fulfil current orders knowing full well they’d not be supporting me into getting my account reinstated! Please no nasty comments, I’ve done all I think I need to do and asking for ADVICE not criticism

Have you reached the disbursement limit of 15,000€ ? You will need to send them a UTR or if applicable a Vat registration number. upload here https://sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/gc/amazon-business/tax-settings
Amazon will confirm all the documentation you need to send, normally highlighted in your account information.
Summary
Sole Proprietors in the United Kingdom: You must provide the following documents from HMRC as a proof of Sole Proprietorship. Some of these documents are issued on a one-off basis, or they may be issued once in a year. In this case, you must provide the most recent HMRC document. They are as follows:
Self-Assessment Welcome letter: This is issued only once
Class 2 National Insurance Contributions bill
Certificate of registration for Value Added Tax (VAT)
Correspondence from HMRC acknowledging UTR number
Notice to complete Self-Assessment Tax Return
Utility Bill, Bank Statement or Credit Card Statement in the name of the Sole Proprietor or the Trading Name

Have you got any red flags showing in your account in seller central? Normally if you click on the performance tab>performance notifications there will be a message there that would hopefully give you a bit more info as to what documents they require.
I really feel for you when SS have given you what must rank as one of the stupidest peices of advice I’ve ever heard of having a passport in your business name. Absolute rubbish, no wonder you’re struggling with that level of “support”.

WHAT ?! - that is the worst SS advice ever.

Dear Seller:
We recently asked you to update your business legal entity. Your Selling on Amazon payment account has been temporarily deactivated because you did not provide this document. Your listings have been removed. Funds will not be transferred to you but will stay in your account while we work with you to address this issue. If you have any open orders, please ship them to avoid further impact to your account.
Why is this happening?
We recently asked you to update your business legal entity. You have not updated this information.
How do I reactivate my account?
To continue with your account verification, please update your legal entity by following the instructions below.
– Go to the “Account Info” page in the “Settings” section of Seller Central (https://sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/gp/on-board/configuration/index.html)
– Click “Edit” in the “Business and Contact Information” section and select the relevant legal entity.
– Confirm the business details and click “Submit”.
Use the following information to select the correct legal entity:
– Individual: you must only choose this legal entity if you do not sell for profit. Individual sellers may list unwanted personal items, such as old DVDs or books.
– UK Sole Proprietor: this legal entity is for any commercial individual who sells for profit. A Sole Proprietorship is registered with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC). There is no legal distinction between the owner and the business.
– Business or Partnership: this legal entity includes Sole Proprietors registered in countries outside the UK. It also includes Charities, Partnerships, Private Limited Companies, and Public Companies.
If you think your selling activity fits the ‘Individual’ legal entity, please reply to this email to answer the following questions:
– What is the source of your inventory?
– Who will benefit from the profits of your sales on Amazon?
How do I send the required information?
We have opened the Seller Central option to update the business legal entity information.

I have had this to about 2 weeks ago!!! I had no emails and then the same message. However, when I submitted my infomation they came back and wanted a passport photo. I have yet to hear back from them

At no point have they asked for it but I’ve sent something off my tax return and just hoping for the best. We will know if it works as everything else was already updated and correct before the suspension so I’ll update this as soon as I hear from them and it may help someone else in the future

I had this issue a couple of years ago. They suspended my account at the beginning of December with no warning. It does seem to be when you hit a certain income threshold. Seem to remember I had to submit my passport and a form from the Inland Revenue. Amazon then argued the toss that my name was not exactly the same on each and it wasn’t precisely the same as the name I was using on Amazon. A bit of warning would have been helpful, as would being clearer when you set up a professional account that you are going to be expected to provide this information at some point in the future.

I’m pretty sure you can give them your driving license instead of passport, I wouldn’t want anyone to see my passport no matter who they are unless your in the airport ofcourse , personally if I was you just setup a LTD company it’s very easy to do and cheap and you save loads of tax, easy to identify yourself, easy for business to look you up, easy all around.
“companyformations” was a good company I used, I think they charged around £13 to setup a LTD company and it came with a free business bank account for 24 months, just remember to file your “confirmation statements”

Just to ask do you have any document under Legal Entity to show.
