Reimbursement Rates
Whenever items get lost in FBA the reimbursement level is set at around 25% of the selling price, so this is below the cost price for most sellers I assume. When I complain I am told that the price is calculated by some formula that is very reliable and that there can be no discussion about its accuracy. While I prefer items don’t get lost, I think fair compensation should be paid according to a transparent formula whenever this happens.

Welcome to ScAmazon
If Amazon lose it they should be liable for the original sale price. After all, it’s not our fault.
Can you imagine how it would go if someone bought your item and then you couldn’t find it and instead of giving them 100% of their money back you just refunded them 25%?

I wouldn’t be surprised if these “missing” items turn up in Amazon Warehouse Deals at about 2p off the original selling price.

The reimbursement amount normally depends on the average price for which the particular ASIN previously sold. It won’t be based on your listing price.
When my own items go missing - where I am the only seller and listing creator at the same time, I get paid the full product price minus FBA fees. Exactly what I would get if the item sold.

If my reimbursement was even close to the average selling price I clearly wouldn’t have any problem, even with the tax deductions and selling fees.
When it is set below the trade price AND selling fees are deducted, this is an abomination.
It’s good to know that my experience isn’t typical, but it’s certainly not the first time it’s happened to me.

Good point, maybe I was getting overcharged for the wholesale!
