Buyer asks courier to leave parcel in a safe place ,then reports it stolen,my rights?

We send all parcels next day recorded delivery and signed for with DPD.The buyer has the option to change from signature to “Leave at a safe place” which they did immediately after we entered the tracking number on Amazon’s site. The courier left the parcel where the buyer asked them to. The the buyer claimed that that the pacel was nver delivered. What are my rights? I smell a rat…

When a buyer changes the delivery to a safe place via the DPD app or their website, they assume responsibility for any loss (it’s part of the terms and conditions).

I suggest you direct them to DPD.

As per Amazon’s own terms & conditions when you buy from them & as a buyer you request package to be delivered to a safe place ie shed, it is at the BUYERS own risk.

Yes, that rat of a buyer is trying to scam you. They do not have a leg to stand on.

Stand firm on this one. Direct them to DPD as the GPS tracking will also show where parcel was delivered too. I would also report them to Amazon as they may well have a history of this.

Once the buyer issues different instructions to the courier, it’s then between the courier and buyer if it goes wrong, however little to no hope of Amazon supporting this view, if not signed for, then…well you know the normal outcome of an A-Z.

If DPD took a photo of the item in the ‘safe place’ or have GPS showing it’s location, then may challenge the buyers claim?

Again, report the buyer to amazon first and advise amazon that the buyer is making a false claim. Upload the tracking {proof of delivery} information which shows that the buyer has re-directed the parcel

with dpd, the buyer has to ‘tick a box’ accepting responsibility for any items left in a safe place. its legally binding

Normally DPD take photos of the front door and the item delivered. Ask DPD to send you the photos.
If delivered, as instructed, then in legal terms it has been delivered and after that was stolen from the customer, so if the customer has an issue, they need to contact the police to report the theft.

In the order confirmation email recieved with each FBM order:

“Please remember that you are responsible for the item until it reaches the buyer at the address provided in your seller account.”.

I believe that DPD may have taken a photo of where they left it, definitely worth discussing with them first

I HAVE lost a claim with tracking codes and official “delivered” proof. Cost me around £100 and Amazon have just stone-walled my requests for an explanation. I couldn’t even get a refund from Royal Mail as they point out that the tracking shows as delivered.

Let us know how you get on. My current feeling is that Amazon refunds all “not received” claims, even the most dubious, thus actively encouraging fraudulent claims.

DPD gps handheld terminal will detect the date, time, location the order was delivered.
