Should images which are common to all variations be uploaded to child or parent?
When uploading images for a product with variations (eg different colours) do you upload common photos once only to the parent SKU listing or do you upload to each child SKU individually instead. What’s the difference?
For example, let’s say I sell a lamp which comes in 5 different colours. I have 5 main product images in each colour - these will obviously be added individually to the respective child SKU. But then I also have a couple of supplementary photos which are common to all SKUs (eg, a photo of the lamp switch and a lifestyle shot). Would you upload these 2 photos to each of the 5 SKUs. Or just once to the parent SKU.

This. When using Color as the theme I don’t believe the parent images will show up at all.

We sell footwear so have a lot of parent/child listings. As long as you have at least 1 image for each child asin , any photos added to the parent will also be shown with each child on the Amazon product page. So if a customer searches for a lamp in blue, your main photo in your child listing will show as the main picture, also there will be all the images added to the parent listing. So to answer your question, there is no need to add generic photos to each child.
