Countries
Read onlyHi everyone,
Since August, as a UK-based seller, we’re now charged VAT on Amazon selling fees. We have VAT registrations in several EU countries (Germany, France, Italy, etc.), and we’re being charged VAT on fees in each of these regions.
My question is: since VAT is automatically deducted from the selling price for sales in EU countries (like Germany), how do we go about claiming back the VAT on these Amazon fees? Do we need to file VAT claims individually in each country, or is there a more streamlined approach?
Any insights or experiences on how to handle this efficiently would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
The VAT on EU fees can be reclaimed in the UK. The tax invoices for the fees in the EU countries will all have your UK VAT number on them.
Hello @Seller_L7iAgaCjHwZ18,
If your business is established in the UK and you have provided your UK VAT registration number in Seller Central, after August 1 2024, Amazon will apply UK VAT on fees for services currently supplied by Amazon Services Europe S.à r.l. including fees for selling on the other European stores. We recommend that you contact your tax advisor for more information.
If you haven't already, I suggest checking out this thread where sellers have discussed their concerns and shared valuable insights.
Kind regards,
Sarah.
