Business Charges
Hi
I am trying to start selling on amazon for profit and therefore “individual” status is not accepted by Amazon and they want to move me to “business”, seller, I don’t want to pay a subscription for selling on Amazon, does anyone know if there is a subscription for a basic business seller.
Thanks

No there is no charge for being registered as a business
The £30 fee you are referring to is the monthly subscription charge for a professional selling PLAN - which is the equivalent of a shop subscription
You do not have to choose this subscription though, you can choose the basic individual PLAN which is pay per sale instead
As you are selling for a profit, you must register with HMRC and amazon as a business seller

There are two selling plans, one has no monthly fee but charges an extra 75p (plus VAT) for each sale and the other charges £25 per month (plus VAT) but removes that 75p and has some other benefits.
A business can sell on either of those selling plans. In all likelihood most new businesses would start on the “free” selling plan and then upgrade once they are selling 34 items per month.

Yes, as mentioned by Little_Shop the first thing you must do, if you haven’t already, is register with HMRC as self-employed (sole trader probably), and you do need a Business Seller account on Amazon for which they will need your UTR which you will receive by letter from HMRC.
