FBA - 1st in 1st out?

Hi all.

Am i right in thinking/assuming that NEW units/stock sent to FBA Centres will NOT be sent to customers until the older existing stock is cleared?

For example -
If i have 1000 units already in Fulfilment Centres and send another 500 units in. Any customer orders will come from existing stock and the 500 New units will sit until older stock is cleared.

Cheers

i believe they will only send it by 1st in, 1st out if its a product with an expiry date
otherwise it will be sent from a warehouse nearest to the buyer whether that be old stock or new

have you changed something on the new batch ?

No, it doesn’t work like that. It depends where your stock is? The 1000 units already in FC may be spread between many different FC’s, so that Amazon can hedge their bets on delivery distances. When you send in 500 more, they could be spread out to even more FC’s. Whichever item is picked will depend on the location of the customer.

The only way to get the older stock out first (unless it has an expiry date) is to let the stock dwindle down before sending in new stock. Even then it might still take a while for all of the old stock to completely disappear.

Use different SKUs for different batches so you have a bit more control.

The majority of the bins/shelf space for standard size items are only approx 2ft sq. From what I seen, one bin for example had: 1 x kettle, 1 x note pad, 1 x mug, 1x pencil case, 1 x flask etc etc. until it was full.
There were no same products in the same bin. So if you knew you had 100pcs in one FC, it is likely there is 1pc in 100 bins.
When stock is sent in it is not all put in one bin, FC knows there is a space in bin B10 for a product X size, so they fill that space first.
Must be a nightmare for the pickers if majority of products are in unbranded boxes! Even though they scan to check
