Invoice Defect Rate confusion, help please

Hi there, I got an email saying I have an invoice defect rate and may get suspended. I have never issued invoices or beet told that I need to. I am just a private seller who is letting some of their books go, I am not a business, I am not vat registered, it’s just selling my own things. I’ve been selling like this for many year as I have a big library and rotate my books. I’ve never had any problem before and there was never a need or request to send invoices. So why am i being told I should issue invoices now and how can I save my account. Please help me, as I cant find anywhere to go on Amazon to get help and no way to talk to a person at Amazon

You are required to issue an invoice / receipt to every business buyer, as well as to any buyer who asks for one. From memory Amazon has been tracking this for about 3 years.

Policy explanation as well as a link for Amazon to do it on your behalf (for future orders only) is here:

Demel’s link above takes you to the page where you can declare your VAT exempt status here:

> _ Sellers not required to register for VAT in the EU and the UK can let Amazon issue receipts on their behalf by declaring their VAT exemption status.

They will automatically do it for future sales, but you will need to manually create an invoice/receipt for any sales marked as to Business Customers - you can filter them on the left of your shipped order page.
Many of us used this site www.invoice-generator.com.
Fill out the info, don’t mention VAT, or you can say no Vat charged in the box, download it to your computer, then upload it on your shipped order page.

Hello @the_book_seller_881 ,

This is Abella from Amazon and would help you with your questions.

Thank you @Demel and @JillyB1 for your inputs.

From the post above I understand that you have concerns on the Invoice Defect Rate .

The Invoice Defect Rate (IDR) is all orders from Amazon Business customers, for which an invoice was not uploaded within one working day after dispatch, as a percentage of total orders from Amazon Business customers.

Amazon Business customers expect invoices for tax and accounting purposes.

In order to provide invoices to customers, sellers can activate the VAT Calculation service and let Amazon issue invoices on their behalf at no cost (recommended).

Alternatively, invoices can be uploaded automatically via a third-party solution provider or manually via the Manage Orders page. Sellers exempt from VAT registration in both the EU and the UK can let Amazon issue receipts on their behalf at no cost by declaring their VAT exemption.

Our policy is that sellers maintain an IDR under 5%, in order to sell on Amazon. An IDR above 5% may result in account deactivation.

Please refer Invoice Defect Rate Policy by clicking here.

If you need any further assistance, you can post here so that we or any of the sellers on forum can help you.

Regards,
Abella.
