You are using UPCs, EANs, ISBNs, ASINs, or JAN codes that do not match the products you are trying to list

I’m getting the dreaded Error:

You are using UPCs, EANs, ISBNs, ASINs, or JAN codes that do not match the products you are trying to list. If you believe you have reached this message in error, please contact Seller Support.

…when adding a product. The Message suggests contact Seller Support but that is easier said than done. The EAN That I am entering has been taken off of the Box so I do not know where to start getting this resolved.

Any suggestions?

Kevin

THis error comes up normally if you are using generic EAN/GTIN numbers against a branded product, most brands have unique EAN/GTIN number sequences that Amazon’s system checks during ASIN creation if they do not match the manufacturer or brand you are listing against this error message is displayed.

This is discussed in a previous forum post;

The GTIN/EAN number was coppied directly off of the Box/Barcode. I get why the message has popped up, but not how to remedy it.

Ok, we’ve established the item has an EAN, does it also have branding or is it generic? If it has branding did you enter that when attempting to create the listing? Or have you used your own company as the brand?

We sell rock climbing guidebooks. We find that when we attempt to list a new item, we always get the error message - like you, we use the information from the book. We now don’t even bother to contact SS as they ask 1 question at a time about the product, the situation used to take 4 or 5 days for the book to be listed. We could spend hours sending receipts, images, date of production and authors.

We have our own website & we took the decision to only list on our own website. We use the time to promote our own site, as we obviously make more money. We do add the book if there is another seller or if Amazon have created the listing.

Why this is such an issue, we can’t work out - we are not selling fake books / maps. All it means is Amazon lose out, why they haven’t worked this out yet continues to mystify us.

Thanks for the response.

The Product is Tchibo Davidoff Coffee Beans, I entered Tchibo as the Manufacturer and Davidoff as the Brand?

@ClimbEurope - I feel you! Although the products are already on my Web Site and I am looking to spread bet.
@PCBuyIT - I tried but to no avail.
@NoOneToldMeIHadTo - How do I contact Seller support - there doesn’t seem to be a direct method?

Thanks Chaps

To contact Seller Support you will need raise a case in Seller Central by clicking Get Support at the bottom of the page.

No, should be Get Support - Contact US - Select the “Request product page or category change” then the options open up on the left , you can then close the right hand bar that is a major pain, you should then see a variety of options as below;
