Do this seem like a scam to you?
Hi All
Does this seem like a scam to you?
I have had a buyer message me to say that damage has been sustained to a book, it’s an expensive book as well. They have sent three photos & it is a book that I sell. I trade on three websites & list one copy on each site & it’s still live on all three sites.
I do re-stock sales monthly so even if I find three copies on the shelf that does not prove anything as it could be a sale & got restocked.
Looking at my inventory it says I listed it on 9/11/22 (is there a way of checking if you have sold it previously within the manage inventory?"
I have looked at the email (which has come in via Amazon messages) but it only shows this on the right of the page;

Whereas all other messages show an expandable ORDER ID & PRODUCT ID this email only shows a PRODUCT which just goes to Amazon live listings, so as the email does not show an ORDER ID there is nothing to click on to take me to the original order page?
I also use Royal Mail click & drop, I have entered the book title which brings up no results & I have ran the buyers name through which also shows no results.
I am concerned as this email come through Amazon messages.
What do people think about this please?

I get this every now and again where the message doesn’t have an order number.
You can use the buyer email to search for any orders for that buyer. If you don’t find any orders then normally they have brought off another seller but have messaged you instead as you are currently selling it.
Normally once you have asked them for an order number you never hear from them again.

Hi
So the plot thickens. They have responded very quickly with an order number but when I paste it into Amazon ORDER ID I get this “Unknown Error: Please try again later” which is preceded by a red exclamation mark.
So I don’t know if the is because its an Amazon system fault or I am not seeing it as it’s an order ID relating to another seller?

It could be.
Yes. Go to your inventory and click on All or Inactive and it will say ‘Out of Stock’ if it has sold previously.

Hey @GENERATIONS_GONE_BY1,
Do you have the order id? Feel free to send me a Direct Message if you feel some information is too sensitive, and as @Smiley_Guy says,
Regards,
Winston

Can’t you just search sales by product name in the last two months, and if there is a sale see if the buyer name matches the message? That will confirm if the message related to a sale of yours or nor
