Listing removed - Brand Tampering

Hi.

I need your help!

My listing has been removed due to amazon claiming i have tampered with the brand attribute.

All i did was change the brand from one brand to another brand. Both brands belong to me and are registered with the amazon brand registry program. The reason i changed the brand was because the original brand it was listed under does not cover DIY products where as the one i have changed it to does.

I have emailed amazon about 5 times now and have explained the above to them but all i am getting back is the following reply.

'Hello,

Our previous e-mail was intended to bring our policy to your attention.

Learn more about this policy in the message sent on 21/10/2019.

Still have questions? You can ask our Seller Support team: Contact us (https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/cu/contact-us).

We are unable to correspond with you further about this issue.’

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Hammad

Maybe you should have listed a new product instead of changing the brand.
Isn’t the ean number registered to the original brand and not the new brand?

Please note that according to the Amazon policy, whenever any of your product’s features change, you need to create a new product listing with a new EAN barcode.

Here is the relevant Amazon policy:

”You must not use an existing listing for a new version of a product. This includes changes in color, size, material, features, and product name. Instead, create a new product detail page for each new version. For example, a manufacturer updates its streaming media player by adding a new remote control with four buttons instead of two. This is materially different from the older version. It must be listed as a new ASIN.”

I guess Amazon are trying to stop people taking a product with high ratings and swap for a different product.

Seems legit to me.

I’ve fallen for the crap product scam with reviews that related to a completely different product which is really annoying.

Not saying this is what you’ve done but it explains why Amazon don’t allow the Brand Name to be changed.

Hi Guys,

The product in question is a fire blanket. There is no brand on the item.

I am happy to change it back to the brand it was listed under but amazon are just not listening.

Thanks
Hammad

Congratulations on reaching the “listings evaluation” team, the 6th circle of Amazon hell.

Your initial email received from them would have made reference to your ASIN and also the Amazon Listing Policy, which states:
“Unless you are the creator of an ASIN, you cannot:
● Change its brand or manufacturer name ”

And, you may think, by implication, “OK, I created this ASIN, I can change or correct the BRAND Attribute on my own, right?”

Sorry, computer says “NO”.
ALL CHANGES TO THE BRAND must be lead by either Brand Registry, or Seller Support, and even that will not protect you.

We are fighting one just now which carries an ‘official’ GS1 Barcode for our branded and boxed product and the BRAND had been changed by an unknown entity.
We did everything ‘by the book’ and had Brand Registry update the page, only for it to get ‘removed’ and of course the one chance of appealing was met with the “Our previous e-mail was intended to bring our policy to your attention.”

So, unfortunately as you’ve admitted you changed the BRAND yourself you’re unlikely to get the page back, but as a warning to others even having Brand Registry make the changes cannot protect you if the Listing team strike you down.

Sincerely,
An Amazon Seller with 1,000+ units of stranded FBA and many, many more units probably destined for another online platform.
